Dr. Harry D Harper, MD

In 2018, Dr. Harry D. Harper accepted $31,439 from Big Pharma to prescribe medications for his cancer patients that he knows do not work. This is a clear indication that he cares more about the bottom line than his patients. Do not trust this man with yours or another family members life. He is a horrible human being and does not deserve your trust or your respect.

Dr. Harper is a very insensitive person who prescribes medications based on the someone's insurance and how much money he will be paid. He does not care about human lives. Unfortunately, his profession pays for doctors to just do and not think. He prescribes medication that he knows do not work and himself would not use or recommend to his own family members, yet he continues to prescribe them knowing it does more harm than good and takes lives, but money is more important to him that the lives of your loved ones. He cannot be trusted.

We have just begun working with Dr. Harry Harper after my husband was suddenly diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. Dr. Harper is exceptional at responding to any inquires or concerns we have had no matter when we reach out. He uses every resource available to get results in the fastest times available. We feel confident he is making the very best decisions regarding the best care and treatment for my husband. Based on our short time with Dr. Harper, we could not recommend him enough.

If you or your loved one wants to feel that your oncologist is on this terrible journey, side by side, with you, and has your situation and interests at heart, and you prefer a good bedside manner, then stay away. He is flaky, forgetful and seems a bit rote in his approach and interaction. HUMC is supposed to be this big research hospital where an entire tumor board reviews your case etc etc but you would never know this with Harper. He kind of goes through the motions and unless you press him and his staff on items, advice, education you'll be in and out after waiting for at least an hour. When my father has had thrush, I've brought it to their attention. When he has had an increased WBC and slightly dehydrated via bloodwork, I bring it to their attention ( he was hospitalized 2 days later). My father had a brain tumor which impacted his balance. They put him on a medicine for hunger. He took it for over a year and felt dizzy and like he was going to pass out all the time. Every… time we asked Harper and his staff they could not address it. He was recently hospitalized and was off this drug for several weeks only to begin it again recently. Same issue. A SIMPLE google search showed side effects such as dizziness, nausea, feeling like you will pass out. He is off that drug no thanks to Harper or his staff. You need to be vigilant with your health and follow up no matter who the doctor. But this one does not inspire confidence. Recently, a CT was ordered for him with contrast, not noting he is allergic to the contrast fluid. While this is in the HUMC system and would've been seen when he got to the scan appt., there is actually a prednisone protocol that must be followed the day before to avoid allergic reaction. I had to bring this up. I had to call his staff. I had to ask about the protocol. Had I not, my poor, weak father would've gotten all the way there (and you know bowhead this is when they are so ill and emaciated) and would have to reschedule the appt. Call the staff and play phone tag with them. These are the kind of things you can expect. No doctor, no process and no hospital is perfect but if you see Dr. Harper and his staff be prepared to carry a heavy weight on your shoulders.

If you care about your life and your family, stay away from Dr. Harper. His bedside manner leaves much to be desired. He cares nothing about his patients and rather see them die than cut into his profits. He's a glorified drug pusher and if you value your life, stay far, far, away from Dr. Harper.

Dr. Harper would rather see people chronically sick than try to keep their cancer in remission. Rather than find out about a person's specific situation and medical history, he is quick to hand out one drug after another making his patient's a walking pharmaceutical company. It doesn't take any intelligence to follow protocol. I think most patients would prefer a doctor who can think on their own and consider your own specific situation rather than someone who follows a cookbook style method of practicing medicine. If you want a chance to get your cancer in remission and the opportunity to move forward with your life, stay away from Dr. Harper and his medical staff.

Dr Harper was my husband's Doctor. Another oncologist had told him 3-6 months. We went to see Dr. Harper and he told us years. We decided to have treatment with Dr. Harper. My husband died in a less than 7 weeks.

Dr Harper accepted me as a transfer from another hospital and started my treatment immediately. Lung cancer is a scary diagnosis but having him as my doctor makes me feel like I have a shot at beating this. His staff is amazing and it's worth the 80 miles EACH WAY that I drive to see him.

My father is being treated for stage 4 lung cancer. Dr. Harper has been doing this a long time, can't tell if that is why he seems so blase about almost everything. He comes across as flaky and very cerebral. He does not have patient details ready to go when he walks into the room with you - have had to remind him of things he said or tumor testing he requested that one would think he would have ready and waiting for you at the appt - especially if that testing relates to whether or not your treatment would change based on it. I think there are only a few ways to go with lung cancer unless you have specific genetic markers or other items new drugs require and so i don't think Dr. Harper can pull a rabbit out of his hat for my dad - but it would feel great to feel like he is really on top of the situation. Sometimes it feels like he isn't on the details. But I suspect he has very good judgement based on his expertise and experience, and I suppose that is worth a lot. If I were… to start over again with my dad, I might have tried Guitierez, who knows. Good luck.
