Dr. McCool is most of the things that the other reviewers say - educated, thorough, friendly, warm, and very skilled. I was a patient for about 15 years. However, during a routine cleaning, the hygienist hinted that she discovered a cracked tooth although I had no symptoms. Dr. McCool confirmed this and recommended a crown, but I didn't have the procedure. A short time later, I saw a dentist in another state (a friend who's opinion I trust) who said my tooth was fine and needed no crown. Nearly two decades later and my tooth is fine - makes me question all the new fillings and replaced cracked fillings (with no symptoms) leading to crowns that I had over the years with him. I've since learned that it is not uncommon scam for a hygienist to point out a nonexistent problem that the dentist confirms. Be careful.

This easy-going Scott-Irish Tennessee gentleman is everything a patient could hope for...patient, kind, amicable, caring, professional, educated, honest, committed. I felt like I was talking to a friend I had known many years. He was quite fascinating in both his words and the visual display he used as visual aids. Dr. McCool is refreshing proof that despite all the accolades and the fact that he has attained/maintained such an advanced level of education and 31 years clinical practice and expertise-yes, I do read the vitae and reviews-there is little need to be pretentious if a doctor is confident and secure in everything they do/say. He is absolutely the best.
