Kind caring but not aggressive in testing. It feels like hmo 1 test at a time instead of testing for all 4 possible causes at once. The lab ranges are too broad with less attention to trending over tume

I have been a patient of Dr.Harry T. Williams for over 10 years and don't believe that I have ever been more comfortable and confident in my health care. Dr. Williams is very thorough and takes the time to explain whatever is going on with my health. Wow! He also has the best and most attentive staff. Ms. Beverly is awesome

Dr. Williams took some getting used to. He is somewhat condescending when he talks to you and reads from your chart like he's reviewing a playbook with you- fine, ok- at least he looks! He seems to be caring and plenty nice, but he is ALL about getting them in and out and BACK IN. It wasn't the fact that I sit there for as long as over 2 hours one time (while they tried to get some x-ray results from Pt. First, an urgent care I initially went to as I do not like the one attached to his office. It was completely ridiculous to have someone sit there- and my mother with me as I needed a driver! while they obviously did not push very hard to get those results and I would have preferred him to either repeat the test or have me come back if he needed me to after seeing them- I gave him a verbal report of the results- and I'm an RN and very involved in my own health care obviously!) it wasn't that nor the fact that they act like I'm asking them to give me an extra kidney if I ask for copies… of my lab results (that they do in house) or even the fact that though he seems to be taking his time and being thorough, he reaches a point where you can see that he has already moved on to the next patient and he almost always hurries out of the room to see another patient while you wait for whatever test he's ordered this time...then THAT's where the waiting begins. I swear once he leaves your room forget it- you will NOT get to ask him anything further without a new apt... even when he comes back in to see you- he's moved on. The last straw was that he CONTINUOUSLY refuses to refill my thyroid meds and another med that I was initially put on by a specialty GYN to treat a common disorder. He keeps telling his secretary that I need to come back in for an office visit to have my "labs" checked... AGAIN. I have been on the same dose of my thyroid meds for years and it was that way when I came to him... and there is no lab to check for the other med. I finally said NO, and put him on the spot by asking WHY he needed to see me AGAIN for a refill- he'll only give me like a month or two at best at a time and then wants another office visit. The call back was the same answer.. "he needs to check your thyroid level and other labs. He won't refill your meds without another office visit. These aren't narcotics people, they aren't toxic medications that require him to monitor my liver or kidney function. He just wants to keep the office visits flowing!! I swear it now. At first when I was told everytime I checked out that he wanted to see me in X weeks or months I thought it was appropriate as we were figuring some things out at first. But then I realized that no matter WHAT I came in for they tried to set up a follow up apt. before I left...for like a month or two tops later. I started to ask "WHY?". Just because you have a PCP doesn't mean you need to see him/her every couple months! IF you're otherwise healthy and not in need of care, then yearly should suffice!!! I even confirmed that with an endocrinologist who said if you are stable then once, MAYBE twice a year is standard of care on checking thyroid levels to refill your current meds. Well, I'm now shopping for a new MD. I am sure he is under some pressure from Sentara... and I can assure you I will do my best to find a non-Sentara affiliated practitioner next go round!! Hope this helps...Bottom line, if you don't mind sitting there for awhile, and coming back over and over for no good reason, then he's not too bad!
