Dr. Harvey Jay Kagan, MD

Our experience with him was hands-down the worst I've ever had with a doctor. Please do not bring your children to him. He was condescending, interrupted me several times while explaining my concerns with my child, and was rough while doing the physical evaluation. He got the hard, plastic tip of the otoscope cone in my baby's eye and did not seem to care. He made me feel foolish and ignorant for having the concerns that my child may be developing an infection, especially after the CHKD triage nurse advised me to have her go to a doctor due to her symptoms. I will never allow my child to be seen by him again.

I’m 32 yrs old and I saw Dr. Kagan as a child. I have always liked him and now I bring my son to see him at Pediatric Specialists. He’s amazing with children and always makes us laugh.

Dr. Kagan has been seeing both of my children since they were babies, they are 10 and 12 now. He has always been helpful, kind and extremely knowledgeable. He puts my kids at ease and even when he only sees one child he makes it a point to ask how the other is doing.

This man was arrogant and treats parents like they are stupid and do not know their own child. My best advice is to never subject your child to this so called pediatrician. He is Rude, condescending and arrogant.

This man is a disgrace to the medical profession. He is arrogant, rude, and uncompassionate. His bedside manner is disposable. Nobody knows a child better than there parent, but this guy walks in the room and talks to you like you know nothing. I wouldn't take my dog to dr. Kagan agian much less my child.

We normally dont see this doctor we see Dr. Stolz or Dr. Fink (whom we love). I had an appt with Dr. Kegan before and wasnt happy at all, but yesterday my child had pink eye and he was the only doctor available. Our appt. was at 9:45 we didnt get seen till 10:45. I knew my child had pink eye I basically just needed a perscription for some eye drops. He told me he was perscribing ointment not drops when i questioned him on why not just using the drops he kept telling me bc they are easier. Um, no. Drops in a 1.5 year old is MUCH easier than ointment. When the I took the perscription to the pharmacy I asked her to seee if Keagan would change it to drops, upon picking up the medicine she had said he denied the change in medication. He was late, rude, he didnt listen to me and neither of my children will be seen by him again.

If there were a way to rate Dr. Kagan lower than one star I would. My 6 month old has had the misfortune of meeting with Dr. Kagan twice. Once for her 2 month wellness visit and another on an emergency sick visit. Dr. Kagan was insensitive, rude, and arrogant for both visits. During the wellness visit, Kagan startled my daughter when roughly turning her head to check her ear. She started screaming and he became very aggitated and stopped the exam. I tried to engage him in a conversation about my concerns about vaccinating my baby with so many shots at once. He was very dismissive and poo pooed away my fears, telling me autism isn't linked to vaccinations (yeah, right.) and I was wrong to not get all the shots at once. I tried to explain my own family's history with autism and he basically left me in mid sentence and walked out the door. The second meeting I had with him was just as disasterous. I had called one morning worried that my 18 week old had been exhibiting signs of reflux,… not colic like Dr. Kagan had assured me at our 2 month check up. Unfortunately, the only Dr. with an opening was Kagan (I wonder why!)and I took my daughter in. We waited an hour in the waiting room and 20 minutes in a room. When we finally came in I described her symptoms which were a text book example of reflux. He, annoyed by her screaming, told me was colic and to try driving her around in my car to help the screams. Furious, I booked another appointment the following day with Dr.Fink. He agreed it was obviously reflux and was amazed it was diagnosed when she was 8 weeks old. My baby suffered an extra 2 months because Dr.Kagan couldn't be bothered enough to listen to symptoms or concerns. He is an unfriendly man whohouldn't be allowed to practice medicine on children.

Dr.Kagan has been tyaking care of both my children for the past 3 years not only is he one of the most caring professionals I have ever come across when he sees either of my children he always asks about the other. Dr.Kagan alawys listens to my concerns how ever little the problem may be. He has always diagnosed properly and has always treated my children wonderfully

I went to see Dr. Harvey J. Kagan for my baby's 15 months wellness appointment. First, I had to wait in the examination room for about 50 minutes while my little girl was undressed the whole time. Then, when the Dr. started to examine my baby, he told me the only way he would be to examine her is put her laying down on the table. I was trying to put her down but she got very nervous and freaked out when the doctor approached to her. She started to cry badly, her face turned purple and she was unable to breathe properly because she was coughing roughly. I picked her up and asked the doctor to please wait a little bit until I calmed her down, or at least, as my regular pediatrician used to do, check her eyes, ears, chest, and lungs while I hold her. Dr. Kagan said, "That is impossible, she has to be on the table". He got so upset and started to yell at me and told me he has another 6 sick kids and he does not have time to wait for this, he has 30 something years of experience and all… the kids are the same at this stage for examination (I do not agree with this at all, since I understand no baby is the same). He said, If I do not put her on the table and hold her legs and arms he would not continue with the examination, and if he could not finish the examination he would not give her the booster shots that she needs for her age.As a mother, I do not see the necessity to make a baby suffer in this way. I understand that the doctor office is not a playground, but it should not be a torture table for a little one. Since the doctor office experience is always traumatic, I believe doctors should help to make the experience less painful. This Dr. is very rude, arrogant and mean. I cannot believe he has been working with kids for so many years. The minimum a pediatrician should be is patient, especially with little babies. As a previous review states, "This man will never touch or even look at my child again".
