Heather Lynn Barraclough

I was sent here for my VA Disability exam. This was not an initial exam, I have ratings for these conditions already. The practitioner was 15 minutes late. They then insisted I turn off my cellphone before the appointment could begin. My examiner then felt the need to remind me that all documents would be looked at by an attorney and proceeded to caution me about fraud before the examination started or before my documents had even been reviewed. Based on the amount of judgment and derision, this was not well meaning. I attended this appointment for a medical exam and to review my medical history, which did not happen. The provider mocked my range of motion and asked why I couldn’t extend my leg farther (I have documented service-related damage, shown in my records, which she didn’t look at). But then told me not to remove my keys/pocketed items when doing a squat. The examiner stared at me in silence after I answered questions. When I asked for clarification about a question, she… became more sharp and dismissive. When I expressed my concerns, they stated that I was the one who had been hostile. I wish there was a recording of our interaction. I’ve never been spoken to this way by a professional. Within moments of their arrival it felt like they had made the decision. They made me so uncomfortable with their quite antagonism that my heart started to race and I had to leave the appointment after 15 minutes(despite difficulty to get appointment in the first place). If you’re a veteran and reading this, I cannot urge you enough to push that your exam be done with a different provider. I know they have good reviews as well but the veterans service office in Medford knows this examiner by name due to the controversial amount of comments being made by fellow veterans.

I want to express my appreciation for the professionalism displayed by Heather Barraclough during my examination in conjunction with the VA. Heather showed true compassion during the examination process and was very good at explaining the process during each step of the exam. Heather appeared to be extremely dedicated to her work and displayed the compassion and professionalism to make this process much easier than expected. Heather’s diagnosis was accepted by the VA upon initial examination, which in itself is testimony as to her abilities. I again, want to thank Heather for her time and effort in this diagnosis and ultimate outcome. Heather is definitely an asset to our community and to the veterans within our community.

I had the opportunity to get evaluated by Heather Barraclough NP and found her to be an excellent listener. She discovered my diagnosis through her thorough clinical assessment, lab works and additional diagnostic imaging so I was able to get the best treatment plan. Now I am able to follow up with her for any additional problems and prevent health problems from occurring. I would highly recommend her for her solid clinical judgement, kind manner and including her patients in the best plans for successes she motivated me towards positive lifestyle changes.
