Dr. Heather Figi, PMHNP-BC

Heather Figi, PMHNP-BC is a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who brings a unique blend of clinical expertise, creativity, and whole-person care to her practice.

With a rich background as a musician, educator, and martial artist, Heather offers a trauma-informed, compassionate approach to mental health that honors each individual’s story. She is deeply committed to helping clients feel seen, safe, and empowered—whether they are navigating anxiety, mood and trauma-related disorders, attention and impulse control challenges, substance use concerns, or more complex psychiatric conditions.

Heather earned her Master of Science in Nursing with a focus in Psychiatric Mental Health from Frontier Nursing University and completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing, graduating summa cum laude from Oregon Health & Science University. Her nursing journey began with an Associate of Applied Science degree from Lane Community College in Eugene, Oregon. She holds …active RN licensure in Oregon and Wisconsin and is licensed as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in both Virginia and Maryland. Heather also maintains DEA licensure in both states, allowing her to prescribe controlled substances.

With over five years of diverse clinical experience, Heather has worked in inpatient and outpatient settings, including the Oregon State Hospital, acute residential care for adolescents, and telehealth-based psychiatric care across the lifespan. She provides care to individuals as young as six through older adulthood, and has experience supporting children, adolescents, young adults, adults, and geriatric populations in both virtual and in-person settings.

Heather specializes in the treatment of mood and anxiety disorders, PTSD and other trauma-related conditions, ADHD, and substance use concerns. Her approach is collaborative and evidence-based, integrating psychopharmacology, genetic testing when appropriate, and patient-centered planning. She is especially passionate about integrative mental health, motivational interviewing, and mind-body approaches.

Heather believes in supporting individuals beyond medication management by helping them connect with their inner strengths and engage in “personal medicine”—the meaningful activities, relationships, and practices that foster healing and resilience.

Driven by a mission to reduce stigma and reframe how we view mental health, Heather is committed to offering care that is respectful, empowering, and rooted in dignity. She often reflects on the words of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.: “I can never be what I ought to be until you are what you ought to be,” believing that healing is a ripple effect that extends from individuals to families, communities, and beyond.

Outside of her clinical work, Heather finds joy in movement and creativity. She enjoys walking outdoors, training in capoeira, and high-intensity interval training. With over 25 years in the arts, she is passionate about integrating music and healing, and currently volunteers with a local musician to bring community sound healing sessions to life. A lover of dark chocolate and dogs, she hopes to welcome a canine companion into her life soon.
