Dr. Heather Lynn Grothe, MD

I am an extremely complicated ortho patient after years of RA and steroid use to treat the RA. Not a lot of ortho doctors can handle me, much less help me thrive. Dr Grothe is calm, thorough, and takes the time to accurately figure out what is going on and treat it, while taking your life overall into consideration. I have had cortisone shots by countless doctors, but none as painless and effective as Dr Grothe's. I cannot recommend Dr Grothe enough.

A small wait but well worth it. Diagnosed my hip pain and groin pain as coming from my back. Ordered mri and was exactly right. Received the correct treatment and feeling better. Knows her medicine.

I am sorry to leave this review, but feel like I must. I do not want to harm any doctor, but feel I must let other potential patients know what happened to me. I have been having cortisone shots for many years for various joint pains and have had wonderful and beneficial results from all of them. I had been getting cortisone shots for a lot of pain from various things in my shoulders. When I couldn't get in to my regular doctor, I accepted an earlier appointment with Dr. Grothe. She seemed to be having a little trouble with the shots and the ultra sound technician was trying to help her. By the next day I was having extreme pain up and down both of my arms. I decided to wait a while to see if it would get better later, but I continued to have different excruciating pains all over both my arms. My right arm was especially affected and aggravated as I had had shingles in that arm a number of years ago. After 2 months my right shoulder became so painful I couldn't function, so… finally got in with my regular doctor. He said I had a very inflamed bursa and gave me a cortisone shot in that shoulder, and it immediately started getting better. I try to use my left arm as much as I can, even though the shoulder joint still is painful. I've used cold and hot packs on my right arm and increased my pain medication, but still not able to use it much. I intend to get another set of cortisone shots from my regular doctor if it's still like this in another month. I still have strange pains in my right arm like aching around my wrist, and burning sensations on the back of my upper arm. I am not a medical person, but what happened after my shots made me wonder if either the wrong medicine was injected, or if instead of it going into the shoulder joint it went into the general tissue area of my upper arm muscles and caused havoc in various areas as it worked it's way down my arms. I am a very honest person and would never write these things unless they were true. I hope no one ever has to go through what I have these past months. On another review, someone else seemed to have good results with cortisone shots in their hips. I'm so sorry to share this terrible experience, but felt I needed to let someone know.

I went to Dr Grothe for hip issues I’ve had for awhile. She was knowledgeable and caring. She did 2 cortisone injections that were painless. I do recommend her for medical orthopedic issues.
