Dr. Heather Ruth Macdonald, MD

This woman performed a mastectomy on me that I would consider near perfect, as perfect as it could probably get, and in general I have high standards, am rather critical and aesthetics are important to me. But unfortunately, the opposite side of my chest was done by an unskilled breast fellow at LAC USC Medical center, and looks crude, with many irregularities. I did not realize "educational hospital" meant my chest would look like when children learn to write in school - the teacher's correct handwriting on one side with the student's crude copying scrawls next to it. The discrepancies between both sides has been difficult and depressing to me. The chest is supposed to be a very symmetrical area of the body. I wish I could have just had access to having a skilled surgeon like Heather MacDonald do both sides. Instead, LAC USC Medical center values giving doctors experience vs. end results for patients. Unfortunately the frustrations I have with the irregular breast-fellow side… overshadow my gratefulness for how well my other side looks. However, if you aren't on medicaid you probably will receive better care and results. Just don't let a breast fellow touch you.

It is a disgrace to have Dr MacDonald to practice medicine. She did not catch my cancer for a couple of years, dismissed my concerns and wanted to send me to family doctor instead. She blamed everything on my anxiety and made me feel as if I were crazy. She only ordered tests on one side of the breasts and it turned out my cancer was on the other breast. I’m glad city of hope found my cancer that she missed. I'm shocked to see she claimed herself as a brca specialist. Please do not see this doc. I almost died from her negligence and incompetence. After reviewing my medical record, my lawyer said she should be fired from usc and other places

Dr. Heather McDonald is amazing! Kind, understanding n intelligent. I would n have recommended her to family and friends.
