Dr. Heather Joy Shenkman, MD

On the day of my appointment, I got a phone call saying they need to reschedule. My original appointment was for 10 AM, but they changed it to 1 PM due to an emergency call out for Dr. Shenkman. The doctor came out at 1:10 PM and brought me to the exam room. Dr. Shenkman covered my health history herself, and the nurse came in afterwards to do the EKG. After waiting five minutes, the doctor came back in and we discuss my health and history for the next 15 minutes. She is very informative and listens well. She gave me excellent advice on diet and nutrition as well as modifing my existing medications. Definitely going to make her my permanent cardiologist.

I had an appointment and even confirmed by phone the day before. When I got there the head receptionist stated they sent me an email confirming the day before... I did not see that. They initially stated they'ed try to squeeze me in but the doctor (Shenkman) said to them.... not able to do so... and would not come to reception to tell me face to face. I waited 3 WEEKS for this appointment... had to take time off work... and NO ACCOMODATION was made. Going to another doctor.

I think this doctor advised me correctly to take a statin--Lipitor, then proceed for an angioplasty. Pics shows that the reason for the burning on the right side of my face, in the chest, and right arm was due to blockage of the RCA. Although it takes "time" for appointments it's understandable that some patient needs may interfere with already scheduled appointments. My concern--I wonder how well contraindications of medications are checked.

this doctor wasted my time she not only wasted my time because she took for ever to see me the few minutes she spent with me she was very rude and would not listen to what I was saying constantly interrupting and the worse she gave me the wrong diagnosis, the opposite of what all my other doctors that had helped me in the past, and all of them had given me the same diagnosis, the opposite of what she said, and she was very rude just because I told her my other doctors gave me a different diagnosis. I would not recommend her at all.

I've had intermittent symptoms significant enough that my GP told me not to drive. During my first (and only) appt with this doctor she did an ECG and exam. I had no symptoms at the time. She told me my heart is perfectly healthy. How can she know that when I wasn't having symptoms at the time? She didn't even wait to see the notes from my previous visit with another cardiologist. She did not even order a 24 hour heart monitor. Talk about liability. If anything happens to me my family will sue her.

Honestly one of the best doctors out there. Considerate, knowledgable, kind, sympathetic. She followed up with me and took great care of me. She is my doctor!!!! She should be yours as well. Office staff spectacular.

I had the first appointment of the day and ended up having to wait almost 2 hours for this doctor. When I asked the staff how long she would be they had no idea where she even was. She finally came running in breathless and it was obvious she had totally forgotten about the appointment entirely. She then spent only about 5 minutes with me and referred me to get an echocardiograph. I was told to call to get the results and ended up leaving 3 messages over 2 weeks and every time I call the office I am put on hold for at least 20 minutes - once it was 40!!!! Finally her assistant called back to say - everything was 'fine.' I'm 8 months pregnant and was waiting on this test to see if I needed a c section or my heart was strong enough to give birth naturally so I guess I still don't know the answer to this question. Worst experience with a doctor in my life so far!

Read The Doctor's rating and was worried when I arrived. NOT THE CASE AT ALL. She was very friendly, attentive, did a thorough exam, asked me if I had any questions numerous times. Took her time and NEVER made me feel like she was in a hurry to leave the room.

The wait was extensive. The receptionist was dismissive & the Dr was condesending & rude. She made little to no effort to analyse the problem. The nurse however was polite & informative.
