Heather Walter, MD, MPH

Dr. Heather Walter is a senior attending psychiatrist in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Boston Children’s Hospital and a professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School who specializes in child and adolescent psychiatry, preventive medicine, and expanding access to behavioral health care for underserved populations. She earned her medical degree from Loma Linda University School of Medicine and also holds a Master of Public Health degree from UCLA. Dr. Walter completed training in preventive medicine, psychiatry, and child and adolescent psychiatry at institutions including UCLA, NYU Medical Center, and Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center. Throughout her distinguished career, she has led major initiatives integrating behavioral health services into schools and pediatric primary care settings and has held leadership roles at institutions including Boston Medical Center, the Pediatric Physicians’ Organization at Children’s, and the …Massachusetts Child Psychiatry Access Program. Widely recognized for her contributions to pediatric behavioral health and consultation psychiatry, she has received numerous honors from the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry for her leadership, innovation, and advocacy in improving mental health care access for children and families.
