Cares and takes the time to listen! She is very smart and knowledgeable and her nurse and staff always brighten my day!

I am a Blue Cross patient and verified this physician was an in network provider, and was taking new patients. The scheduler said they only make a limited number of Medicare and Medicaid patients appointments per month. I provided my Blue Cross insurance information and made an appointment two months in advance. I received a voicemail from someone named Elaine saying she was canceling the appointment because I was age 65 or over. When I called back she transferred me to someone named Judy, who would not identify their job position there but who said it was the company policy to not schedule appointments for those aged 65 or "Medicare age." I attempted to explain that I had private insurance for which they were an in network provider. She hung up on me. In reviewing their website under frequently asked questions it states: DO YOU ACCEPT NEW MEDICARE PATIENTS? No, we are unable to see brand new Medicare patients. However, we are able to care for our established patients who… become Medicare eligible. It's hard to believe their staff are that ignorant to think everyone age 65 automatically has Medicare. Is it just that they don't want to deal with Medicare or they don't want patients age 65 and over? Whichever the case it's age discrimination under the Civil Rights Act. If they discriminate based on age you can be sure they discriminate against other patient profiles.

While the waiting period is low in getting in, which is a plus, what I would recommend Dr Wheeler for is her overall caring and time spent with patients. She is not 'pushy' in her recommendations but gives you the options and respects your choice. I would, and have, recommend Dr Wheeler to anyone.
