Review for HECTOR O CAMPBELL Dr Campbell is an amazing doctor. His medical talents are top notch. His commitment to his profession and patient care go beyond anyone I know of. I cut the back of my hand off with a chop saw. This was the nastiest injury I have ever seen. To me it looked hopeless. I am left-handed by nature. To see most of my hand backside disappear scared the heck out of me. I knew I cut at least 2 tendons as I couldn't pick up two fingers. I believed my ability to work again was finished as I need my left hand to earn a living. Dr. Campbell changed all that and more. This man got bumped from a 7:00 pm surgery due to an emergency need for the OR's. He waited to do my surgery over 5 hours, just after midnight. My surgery presented 2 severed tendons and massive tissue loss. Dr Campbell repaired the tendons and most of the lost mass. Who does this anymore? On a personal side, he is friendly with a sense of humor. I found a particular humility here not often seen with… surgeons. Beyond that, my follow up appointment after the first week at his office was pleasant . The office staff, and there are many, were friendly and helpful. Great crew at Bangor Plastic and Hand. Our 2 year old had a trauma to his had and has had a few surgeries all preformed by Dr. Campbell. He is Amazing! We would recommend him to anyone! Great with kids and very friendly plus did and amazing job!

Dr. Campbell was very nice and patient friendly. Took his time with my husband and myself. The surgery went well, my husband is into the end of his first week post op and everything seems to be going well. Dr. Campbell himself is very pleasant and seems to have done a good surgery. His office staff is condescending and doesn't seem interested in the patient in anyway, just seems to want to get the patient thru the office process.

Dr. Campbell performed a large muscle and skin graft on my 22 year old brother after a car accident. My brother had a crushed lower leg. Dr. Campbell took one of his large back muscles, Latissimus Dorsi and attached it to his lower leg during an average of 12 hour+ surgery. This was likely Dr. Campbell’s FIRST surgery at EMMC or one of his first, as he was just announced as a new surgeon. We did not know this at the time. Upon awakening from anesthesia, my brother was in an extreme amount of pain, which they were trying to manage. Due to the prolonged time under anesthesia, my brother was extremely confused and agitated that whole night and next day. Nurses were continually checking by ultrasound, the pulse of the muscle graft. Shortly after, my brother’s antibiotics were discontinued BY COMPUTER ERROR. Dr. Campbell did not renew the antibiotic order and none of the nurses noticed. Because of this, the muscle and skin graft became infected and DIED. The whole muscle and skin… graft had to be removed and thrown away. The hospital verbally admitted that the order should have been renewed but EMMC covered that up in the medical report. This incident caused my brother to be in the hospital for an extra 2-3 weeks, when he had already been admitted for several weeks. A more experienced surgeon was then brought in to perform a second muscle and skin graft. This surgeon performed the graft by taking my brother’s calf muscle posteriorly and transferring it to the front of his leg. This was a much shorter surgery and much more effective. Dr. Campbell performed the wrong kind of muscle graft on my brother which caused his extreme pain, extended hospital stay and permanent loss of his latissimi dorsi muscle. I want everyone to know that Dr. Campbell is an extremely inexperienced plastic surgeon.
