Dr. Hector Alejandro Oyarzabal, MD

Dr. Hector Oyarzabal is a DISGRACE TO THE HEALTH CARE INDUSTRY AND NEEDS TO HAVE HIS PRACTICING LICENSE REVOKED. I accompanied my mom to her 10:15 appointment. This was her second appointment of seeing this Doctor. We arrived early and her vitals weren’t taken until 10:45. We were then told the Doctor wouldn’t be in until 11:30. I don’t understand why you would schedule someone so early if the doctor isn’t even present? We weren’t seen by him until 12pm. This doctor hardly spent anytime listening to my mother’s concerns and repeatedly told my mom to “stop talking” and “listen to him”. At her previous appointment, he ordered my mom to do a CT scan which I had already been trying to set up for almost a week but was told by the imaging center that they needed the clinical notes from the doctor for his reasoning for the CT scan. We reminded him if he could send that information. What happened next, I will never understand in my life… he said he was not going to send any information… because the referral he made was sufficient and it was the insurances fault because they just didn’t want to pay for it. He proceeded to tell us it was OUR job to call, yell, and demand that we get that CT scan and to continue calling until we got it done. He knows my mom is suffering from anxiety; so I cannot comprehend how he would recommend that she yell her way into getting a CT scan that HE ordered?! At her previous appointment he told my mom that the insurance would give her a hard time about the CT scan but for them just to call him and he would settle it. So I don’t understand why he was now refusing to help her. I reminded him of that but he kept responding like a child and he continued to state he was not obligated to send anything. That whole appointment felt like a verbal assault, and I was so infuriated to see my mom tensing up by this man that is supposedly a medical professional. She said she left leaving that place worse than when she arrived. I wish I would have recorded all the nonsense he was saying so I could have proof for when I report him and hopefully prevent him from verbally harassing anyone else. He DOES NOT have good bedside manner as he also got up and left us talking in the room. We were forced to finish our “appointment” out in the hallway. All he wanted was to end the appointment and send us on our way without resolving anything. Miraculously, he finally agreed to send the clinical notes but I honestly don’t believe a single word that comes out of that MONSTER’S mouth. After that, we went back out to the waiting area where it was FILLED with patients. Many of them were complaining loudly of the long waiting time and were threatening the secretary that they would leave if they weren’t seen soon. The whole office just has no structure and I’m surprised by the good reviews he does have. My mother will never EVER see this HORRIBLE doctor again and I will be filing a complaint to the Texas Medical Board. There is so much more that is wrong with this doctor but this is just to give you all a little snippet of what we experienced… please if you care about your loved ones I hope you all will STAY AWAY from this unprofessional and ghetto establishment.

The best doctor ever. Appointment are easily made. The doctor listens to you will take care of you as per your need. The staff is very polite. I strongly recommend this doctor to anyone who needs a doctor.

I've been with DR. Oyarzabal for over 6 years since arriving to San Antonio, Texas by way of a referral from a sibling. What a wonderful choice. I can honestly say that I LOVE my doctor. Dr. Oyarzabal makes you feel like you are his primary concerns and when he walks into the examining room, you immediately know that all his attention is focused on YOU alone when he is with you. He spends time with you, answer your questions, offers his treatment and suggestions. He may have patients waiting up the kazoo with patients at times due to his excellent bedside manner, but when your turn comes around, the wait at times is well worth it regardless. I guarantee you'll walk out of hos office feeling better than you did when you arrived. It is such a blessing that there are still some patient conscious considerate doctors still around. Dr. Oyarzabal is one of the few. I have nothing but praise for this man and the "special care" that he gives to his patients. Good doctors are a rarity these days, Dr. Oyarzabal not only treated his patient, my father, but also the patient,s wife, my mother. He knows that the key to a successful recovery also includes the well being of the family. That is the bank that we draw from when strength is needed. He made sure her health was as good as possible, and for that we are all truly greatfull.

I have been a patient of Dr. Oyarzabal for at least 10-years. I recommend his practice to all my friends. If you are looking for Doctor that listens, understands your concerns, and shows empaty, then Dr. Oyarzabal is the doctor for you. Good and compassionate doctors are hard to find, so if he ever move location or town, I would definately follow his practice.
