Dr. Helen Krontiras, MD

Dr Krontiras took out 3x the number of lymph nodes expected during a sentinel node biopsy (normal is 1-3). They were all cancer - free and she had no answer why she took out so many. I now have lymphedema in my arm which is permanently disfiguring and will have to be covered by long sleeves and compression garments (in this heat!) for the rest of my life. Please find another doctor, we deserve better.

I am very pleased with my visits and surgery with Dr. Krontiras. I have found her to be extremely intelligent and forthcoming - I know exactly what is going on with no lingering questions. Would highly recommend.

she did surgery on me when another dr was not available. it was fairly basic and everything was fine. she was nice but didn't elaborate and lacked the warmth that a surgeon would have when you are so nervous about being cut on. she is knowledgable because she was trained by the best. but she needs to show that she cares in her mannerisms. if you need something major, go with the older more experienced... sir urist!

Dr. Krontiras has a very pleasant personality, with excellent bedside manners. She performed a very through assessment while allowing me to ask questions as well. Her nursing staff phoned the day after surgery and followed up with post surgery appointment.

From the beginning of my journey with breast cancer, Dr. Krontiras was there for me. She is the most caring person ever.

I had a mastectomy with immediate free tram reconstruction and Dr. krontiras completely removed my inframmary fold so the flap could be tunneled. I do not have a tunneled flap it is a free tram not a tram. She did not know Dr. fix was a micro surgeon doing free tram procedures. I have spent over $20,000 over and above my insurance to try and recreate the fold. She has been doing this with all free tram patients prior to 2012 when I reported it. Check yor medical records as UAB will cover this up.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer 3 years ago, I went to see my primary MD and he referred me to Dr. Krontias she worked me into her clinic the same day. Arranged my bisopy and by the end of the day I had my preliminary diagnosis. She held my hand was there for me and walked me thru the entire process. She later did my surgery and I had an incredible outcome. I would and have recommended her to several of my friends, co worker and family she is an extrordinary physician and a kind person.

I had a skin sparing mastectomy with immediate muscle sparing free tram reconstruction at UAB in 2010. The mastectomy was performed by Dr. Krontiras and I had to contact attorneys within my 2 years. It looked like she held my breast up by the nipple and just cut the top off so all scars are visible and my skin was not spared! She also completely removed my inframammary fold and never told me. She does not know what she is doing but this is what you can expect from a state with a medical review board that allows doctors to send false medical records. Do not go to UAB or Alabama!

Dr. Krontiras initially seems to be interested and caring. Unfortunately, her concern drops off significantly after surgery. She didn't even bother to take a moment and speak to me or my family after surgery. She relies on her students and I have been told by 3 subsequent surgeons they believe my mastectomy was done by one of those students. The mess I've been left in, they feel is the work of an inexperienced and incompetent surgeon. Stay away from Krontiras and UAB for surgery!
