Dr. Helen N Sempira

****UPDATE**** Based on my previous review, Dr. Sempira reached out to me personally to correct the issue. I did receive a refund check for the additional funds. I can respect the fact she took time to correct the issue. She even explained the reason for the 3D image. I respect the fact she took the time to personally call and to also admit a mistake had been made and corrected it. This speaks volumes for her character. Nobody is perfect and there is no perfect business. Mistakes happen, it's what you do when those mistakes happen that matters. Please remove my previous review.

The doctor is good, it’s the business practices that have resulted in my low rating. The office requires you to pay $200 or more upfront, even with insurance, depending on what you are there for. My deductible isn’t even that high. Secondly, they bill your insurance for any services. Mind you I did not have any services, just X-rays. They enforce the need for the 360 x-ray when my referral clearly stated what two teeth were the issue. Xray the two teeth, this is to overcharge you. My total bill was $324. They billed my insurance and insurance paid the contracted amount of $146. The contracted amount is what the provider and insurer have agreed on. What Helen did was take the difference from my $211 and sent me a check for $33. The nerve. If you agreed with insurance to accept this amount, why are you milking your patients for the rest? This is a horrible business practice that Helne Sempira is doing. It is unethical and I would not recommend anyone to do business here.
