Dr. Helen Lee Slone, MD

I made a change in my endocrinologist after my Aug 2024 appt with Dr Slone. At that appt, I saw an intern 1st, than she joined in on the appt. I was explaining nerve damage issues with my back and neck that were worsening since Oct 2023; which had triggered episodes of Autonomic Dysreflexia. The reduced ability to be as active as I was earlier in 2023 had resulted in some weight gain and subsequently a slight increase in my a1c; but still low prediabetic. She became very rude and accused me of making excuses. At that point, I just stopped talking. I'm getting too old to deal with Drs who won't listen to me. So, I decided to fire Dr Slone and find a new Dr. I made an appt with a fantastic Dr thru another health care system. My new Dr explained to me I needed to stop taking my Biotin 4 days before doing my thyroid test. The Biotin interferes with the testing process and causes inaccurate results. Dr Slone never instructed me to do this. And, magically, my hyperthyroidism is in perfect… range. Dr Slone failed me, and she was patient shaming me instead of truly doing her job. Now I know why my new Dr has 4.9 rating.

Notice that most of "doctor" (laugh) Slone's five star reviews are male or ones who have historically male names? She is, hands-down, the absolute WORST dr. with which I've ever had to deal. I could see her judgment of me, her assessment, the minute we met. She placed me on Synthroid and told me we were through. Just like that. She didn't want to see me again just because I'm fat, or because I reminded her of an enemy, or because I'm not a man. Whatever the case, I went to a MUCH BETTER endocrinologist who knows thyroid patients require annual or bi-annual bloodwork, especially when thyroid levels fluctuate. You couldn't pay me to see laugh of a doctor again!

Worst doctor I've ever met. She's rude and arrogant. Doesn't listen to or care about what you're experiencing. The most condescending person I've had the misfortune of meeting. Stay away!

Poor bedside manner and has yet to treat my thyroid. For the 2nd time she ordered more bloodwork and another ultrasound and said come back in 6 months. I already feel it pressing on my throat and will not wait another 6 months. No thank you.

Not happy .refused to weigh me on numerous times. The staff are nice but the doctor rushes in looks at your chart if you’re lucky maybe stays with you a hole five minutes very pushy on medication even if you say no still says you have to take it but she is the only diabetic doctor close to me I have no choice

Just wish I could take Slone to court for what she has done to me & how she has made my family feel, we all are suffering because of her misdiagnosing me, your family suffers also along with you when you go through this, I don't just suffer alone!! My life has been ruined FOREVER!!!

She could honestly care less about her patients. I went to her because I suddenly gained a ton of weight while on thyroid meds. She said, 'well, you obviously eat too much." When I explained to her that I was on a 1000 calorie diet and working out three times a week, she said, "Then you're eating all the wrong foods." I explained my menu (by then I was in tears out of frustration) she said, "Well, SOMETHING'S wrong with you!" She made me feel like I was a waste of her time as she was rushing out the door. I've since list thirty pounds by going to Dr. Malik and my primary care physician prescribes my thyroid meds. I'll never put myself through the shame and feelings of disgust by going back to Dr. Slope ever again!

I have not felt good since this dr took my thyroid away from me, I never thought it should have been taken in the first place, I always felt great before I had seen her, I was told even if your levels are off just a little you need to do this, I cry everyday especially on those slow & sluggish days & I never had this before I was told I need to have my thyroid gone, know how she said it would be ( this radiation capsule that will be given to you to swallow will be like ( Pac-Man ) at your thyroid chopping it up!!!!!!! So sad, wish I had my thyroid back, the meds are not the same as your own organ!!!

Wish I hadn't listened to my primary Doctor ( Dr Nancy Dear ) ( 10 years ago when my life was rouined ) when she thought I should see a thyroid doc ( never had any thyroid issues ever & was consistent every year with her with regular yearly appointments that is ) wanted me to see doc Helen Sloan, ( I should of gotten a second opinion for one, & two, I should of known better when I get my test's back & Doctor Sloan takes a look at them & you get aaaa, ummm , aaaa, yeah ( you need to have your thyroid removed ) well I didn't know anything about thyroid issues then, nothing was really ever explained to me well, all I knew was I felt great until my life was changed after my thyroid was gone!!! I never had been so tired before & never had any weight problems, & never had any Thyroid level issues ever, I just don't know why my primary Doctor wanted to bring me down like she had & why Doctor Sloan took a piece of me & my life away from me like she did, she that day seemed unsure of her self… but what did I know ( not enough I guess ) to late then, I couldn't get my thyroid back after I knew it was too late!!! I only wish I was more educated better about the issue instead of feeling all I'm doing is doing what my Doctor is telling me to do!!! That is excatly what I did! Appointment after appointment until it was gone in less then a day!!! Been kicking myself for 10 years in NJ.

Wait time in office is very long. And then dr Slone runs in, looks at your chart, gives a pronouncement and leaves. If you have questions she stands in doorway and it's clear you're taking up her time. But only endocrinologist in town.
