Dr. Hengameh Salemi, MD

In each visit I have had with Dr. Salemi, she takes the time to hear my description of symptoms, and then after her examination, explains her diagnosis, what to do when I got home, how to take the prescription, how to obtain my lab results (if lab work was needed). She even writes a check list of what we discussed because, as she says, it's easy when one doesn't feel well to forget the details of the discussion. I recommended her to my daughter and son, both of whom are now her patients.

When I first met with Dr. Salemi for a new patient interview she seemed to not mind taking the time to listen to me. However, when I went back and actually was sick she was in a hurry, rushed me, and did not call me with my test results, her nurse (or whoever) would not return my phone calls for over three days when the medicine was not working and I had to get worked in at my OB (who did so quickly and with more professionalism). The health dept even called me about my results (it was salmonella, not a uti) and were *shocked* that my doctor had not already contacted me. When I spoke to Salemi about it she said she didn't know it was state law that the health dept contact me and that the medicine should have worked (her excuse about why she didn't call back when the medicine didn't work). She seems to only barely know what she is doing and to not care AT ALL about the patient. More recently my OB called and begged her to work me into her schedule because of a horrible cough I have in… my third trimester. She refused. I've got a new Primary Care physician interview set up for next week and will not be going back to Salemi. I would not recommend her to anyone. I'm not sure why anyone this disinterested in her patients is a doctor at all. My OB ended up having to send me down the road to an AFC because my primary care phys. literally around the corner in the same hospital refused to see me. Just doesn't make any sense.
