Dr. Henry Edward Bruce, MD

Dr Bruce is an excellent surgeon. He is not "toughy feely". He is an old school doctor who should be rated on his surgery skills, not 21st century "feelings". I wanted a good surgeon, and found one with Dr Bruce.

Teriible doctor the worst bed side manner. Had a re do on my hip replacement less than one year with another doc. Thank God I am doing much better.

Dr Bruce did my emergency hip replacement surgery. He put in the wrong size prosthetic with too much offset. When I told him of the pain I had a few weeks after surgery he told me nothing was wrong other than I was not working hard enough in therapy. After months of pain and bad advice about my hip and groin pain I got two other opinions from other ortho surgeons in Orange County. They both independantly said that ther wrong prosthetic device was used and that Dr Bruce should have realized that the pain in my hip was bursitis from the stress on my hip tendon, and that the groin pain was due to the stress of the device pushing on my pelvis, since he did not deem it necessary to do a full replacement.

I just left Dr. Bruces office with an overwhelming feeling of dissatisfaction. I came in today because Ive been having pain on my right hand and elbow for the past month. I took the time out from work in hopes that the specialist would be able to provide a diagnosis or at least point me in the right direction. After a series of exercises I vocalized which ones caused me pain, I was met with a shrug of the shoulders by Dr. Bruce who promptly told me he was at a loss and asked me if I wanted to proceed any further I could do the X-ray. I asked his opinion and he just stated its up to you and I dont know if your plan covers it or what your deductible is. I really wish that my financial situation wouldnt have a bearing on my diagnosis. I asked if X-rays would be able to provide any nerve information and he said no. I had a feeling this could be nerve related because of the shocks Ive been having on my thumb.Im not a specialist, I simply went there today to find out why I was feeling this… pain. I was trying to explain to him that my sleeping pattern (over my hand) could be contributing to this pain, or the incessant typing from work, just trying to find the cause and hopefully a solution.At the end of my ephemeral appointment (15-20 minutes), I had asked him if he would be able to take a look at my feet, I had had a previous surgery and just wanted to find out his opinion if another was needed, he said he had no time and that a new appointment would have to be made for that.After all those futile exercises, where I was clear when and where I felt pain, I am left with more pain because of the straining, no solution, and $110 poorer.I was hoping for a doctor who would understand that I didnt go all the way to his office and took time out of my busy schedule for some made up minor incident. This worries me not because of the level of pain Im feeling at the moment, but more importantly due to my fear of it escalating to the point where I could lose function in my hand.I will not be returning to Dr. Bruces office, but I sincerely hope he will start LISTENING to his patients a little more and be a little more investigative if he doesnt immediately know the cause of someones pain, thats what a true specialist should do.
