Dr. Henry Lawrence Dorkin, MD

Dr. Hank Dorkin and his NP Monica are - without a doubt- the dynamic duo for CF patients in Boston. We interviewed them when I learned my son (in utero) had CF. They were still with NEMC, now known as TUFTS Medical. We followed them to Mass General, and then again to Boston Children's. And the truth is, if they moved to Alaska - we would follow them there as well. Never have I met a more knowledgeable team, not a more caring team. I have ALWAYS felt confident in my son's care under Dr. Dorkin. He is most responsive. Listens to the me, as a parent. And even provided his summer home number in case of emergency! What doctor does that?!?! When my on had unrelated heart surgery, he waited in the waiting room with us for a substantial amount of time, and was very much part of the care team in his recovery process. When I say that you can't find doctors like this any more - I am not exaggerating. But most importantly, his intricate knowledge of CF, his willingness to advocate for… my on, and his NP, Monica are second to none. I am forever grateful that my son is cared for by Hank Dorkin and Monica Ulles.

These ratings are from the time our son was treated by Dr. Dorkin for Cystic Fibrosis 35 years ago, from infancy to age 18, having afterwards moved out of state. Joshua, at present, has no pulmonary involvement and though on pancreatic enzymes and vitamins, has no need for PT or flutter valve. He works part-time (due to a brain injury), goes to the gym twice a week, maintains his weight and gives his pulmonologist a 'break' when he goes for 6 month checkups because after labs, x-rays and pfts, all his doctor can say is "Everything's great, as usual!" We attribute this to the excellent care he was given by Dr. Dorkin in Josh's early years and are very thankful for Dr. Henry Dorkin's wisdom, knowledge and caring concern. He didn't just treat his patient; he treated the whole family and we are all fortunate to have known him. I'm going to stop here before it starts sounding like a eulogy. He's the best!
