Dr. Henry Zane Kirk

My daughter is 39 years old at present. She is married to a loving husband with whom she has three children, Although she gets dragged down by the usual burdens of life, everyone who knows her says she is one of the brightest and happiest persons. I believe she was given the chance to develop this life because of the INCREDIBLE ABILITY AND PROFESSIONALISM of Dr. Kirk!!! Dr. Kirk acted upon a vague indication of a problem and sent her to be evaluated by a Specialist. The Specialist detected the signs of Cerebral Palsy. This at the age of THREE MONTHS. The Specialist informed me that this type of condition was not normally detected until the age of three YEARS. Because of this, she was entered into a comprehensive program of therapy that prevented the very serious and irreversible physical damage that normally occurs when Cerebral Palsy is not countered during those critical first few years of a child's development. Instead of a badly deformed leg and a severely weakened,… limited-use right side, she is an active loving Mother and wife. I attribute her opportunity to lead a "normal" life as a Blessing of God given through the gifted, knowledgeable and dedicated pediatrician of Dr. H. Zane Kirk. P.S. My daughter went to college, obtained a degree in Early Childhood Development and found employment in a comprehensive Child Care facility where she has looked after and cared for hundreds of children during the past twenty years. By extension, these children were also helped by the actions of Dr. Kirk.

Dr. Kirk was our pediatrician - way back in 1975 - during a normal, regularly scheduled check-up visit (at the age of three months) he observed "something unusual" with my daughter's leg mobility. Upon his recommendation, she was seen at Pittsburgh Children's Hospital. Cerebral Palsy was diagnosed and she was immediately started on therapy, etc. The Specialists at Children's said that a case of CP like this is usually not noticed until much later - often until the age of three or three and a half years old. By that time SEVERE damage is done and irreversible. By finding it at such an early age the severe damage was ENTIRELY AVOIDED. She is now a healthy, ACTIVE mother of three with no outward sign of impairment. The Specialists at Children's were amazed that Dr.Kirk had detected the problem a such a "weak" symptom level. Dr.Kirk will always hold a special spot in our family. Thanks again, Dr.
