Dr. Henry Norman Small, MD

Dr Small is an excellent doctor, and in addition he has a wonderful bedside manner.

When my back decided to give out one morning trying to crawl out of bed...... that when Dr. Small came to my rescue. He was kind enough to come in for me on his day off; cutting his vacation time short by a couple days; just to help meet with me. I'm sure that I'm somehow was considered lucky or blessed by the Grace of God (depending on your beliefs)....... but either way, Dr. Small was one of the best doctors and surgeons I've ever met. I've been going to specialist/doctors since I was a little girl. Note that my surgery and recovery wasn't exactly your average. I have 3 chronic autoimmune diseases. I had some complications afterwards. Other neurologist couldn't figure it out. They had no answers (even after MRIs scans on my brain). I then decided to go back to Dr. Small bc I felt he could possibly help me figure out what was going on. Though he assured me that he wasn't 100% on what was happening...... he thought it could possibly be internal shingles. It got me curious (I'm a… biology nerd). Here's what I learned.... One of the only legitimate ways to test for internal shingles is with an invasive spinal procedure that contracts your spinal fluid for testing. No thanks!!! After the shingles on my foot (same dermatome that the surgery decompressed) ran it's miserable course, I then developed these strange chicken pox scars in the original most painful areas of my foot. I can't explain any of it...... except Dr. Small's "hunch" was very much on point! Due to the shingles, I was on nerve pain medications for longer than I had planned to be...... however, when the time felt right I weened off the medications, Dr. Small was more than supportive about my decision. I felt like he listened to me and my concerns. He allowed me to tell him what I felt (intuitively) was best and he would give me his own advice. Thankfully due to my health background, he trusted my decisions. I appreciate all my doctors that listen, see the scans/lab work and still truly trust my intuition. I know I have 2 friends that I've referred already. For sure one of them has reached out to Dr. Small. The only thing I will say is that you need to make sure if is...... does your insurance cover your visits and surgery. I refused to have a spinal fusion at my L5/S1. Thankfully I was a candidate for the CoFlex device. Best decision ever!!

Dr Small literally is a life saver. He gave me relief after almost 4 yrs of constant irritation, discomfort, tingling, and a reoccurrence of a burn that ended up leaving me w a staph infection. Dr Small treated the infection along w stem cell procedure. I have finally have had some relief in my arm. Dr Small is friendly caring and professional. His staff is just as amazing. They are awesome. I highly recommend him

I have neck and back surgeries by Dr Small Plus He just put in a pain pump for me I have nothing but the upmost respect for Dr Small

Dr Small did a cervical fusion on me 16yrs ago. It was a redo from a surgery that went very wrong.Never had any problem. Wonderful Doctor.

I've was immediately impressed and made to feel welcome and cared for as I suffer from PTSD. He spent at least 45 minutes with me, answered all my ?'s & concerns. Shared a little bit about himself in an effort to make me feel @ ease. Was very familiar w/my unique set of extremely rare back surgeries. He is down 2 earth, truly caring about u and ur feelings. I left with his personal phone # for further ?'S & concerns, encouraged 2 text w/?'s. LOVE THIS GUY!!!!!
