Dr. Henry Horngyih Wu, MD

Dr. Wu is treating my mother for a prolapsed bladder and working on ruling out interstitial cystitis (IC/ or "Painful Bladder Syndrome"/PBS). From the beginning, I was impressed with his approach to diagnosis, and his concern to not wait until confirmed diagnosis before initiating the management of pain. Doctors will often make a patient wait until ALL diagnostic procedures have been completed and analyzed before initiating pain management, lest the management of pain skew the more objective diagnostic procedures ~ but Dr. Wu is both an impressive and well~educated diagnostician AND a compassionate practitioner.Secondly, with the primary confirmed diagnosis for my mother being a prolapsed bladder, most urologists (being surgeons by nature) will jump to roll you out into the hallway, still strapped into the stirrups, to make immediate arrangements for the earliest available appointment for surgery. So imagine my 75~year old diabetic mother's relief when Dr. Wu instead indicated that… given her overall health picture, there were many other treatments he could offer her first, rather than rushing to the surgical suite as the first (and only) immediate option.Although we've been to his office only a handful of times, it was very easy to become impressed with his knowledge and professionalism right away. That he specializes in minimally invasive diagnostics and surgeries is a plus, as well as Women's and Men's health and wellness patient eduction.Hint: Dr. Wu's Los Alamitos office is streamlined for the smoothest appointments, and is just minutes away from his office in Signal Hill.
