Dr. Herbert Fernando Bravo, MD

This place is a joke, and unfortunately we learned that the hard (and expensive) way. We took our 1 year old son here on a Saturday evening because we were concerned he may have an ear infection. Dr. Bravo spent a total of 10 seconds examining him by listening to his chest and looking in his mouth. He did not even take his temperature or look in his ears! He had zero bed side manner, and spent most of our 2 minute visit complaining about "uptight Northern Virginia residents who drive their fancy cars and don't want other kids germs near their precious children". His words not mine. In the end he diagnosed my son with some obscure disease, even though it did not match any of his symptoms, and said there was nothing we could do but wait it out. The following Monday when my sons fever spiked I took him to his regular doctor and he was diagnosed with a sinus infection, which needed to be treated with antibiotics. To add insult to injury, we later received a bill for almost… $300 for this visit, even though we had been told by the receptionist twice that they were an in network urgent care facility for our insurance. After numerous unreturned phone calls to their office we finally spoke to the billing person who informed us that "the receptionist has no authority to tell you if we accept your insurance because she does not do the billing, so it does not matter what she may or may not have said to you." The billing person also told us that she does not know what an urgent care facility is and could not bill as one. We ended up paying the $300 bill (which included a $25 fee for mailing the bill to us), even though their website states that an office visit costs between $125-$150. That's half of what we were billed, for a 2 minute visit in which we received the wrong diagnoses. Please stay far, far away from this place!!!

My 5 yr old had a severe allergic reaction, they had an immediate opening. All other pediatricians were closed. On our way there, her condition rapidly got worse. The 1st thing the doctor did was to check her oxygen level. He seemed very concerned & thorough in his questioning. He provided medication there, had us stay to monitor her. Although her condition was still pretty bad, she was safe to go home. He provided a prescription, a great referral for an allergist (the one we had was useless), & things that would require her to go to the emergency room. I was so grateful he was open that night and knowledgeable. When I pulled up to the office and saw how worse she had gotten, I really thought I was going to lose her. We were never double charged but honestly if the office had accidentally done that, I would have been ok because at the end of it all, as far as I am concerned, he was there when I needed a doctor and he saved her. I have used him a few other times since.

The doctor never billed me correctly and then sent me to a collections attorney even though I paid my co pay.

We've seen Dr. Bravo multiple times under two different insurance companies and never had any problems. His practice is very convenient, his staff very nice, and Dr. Bravo remembers my child and always takes time to explain things to us. I honestly wouldn't take my kids anywhere else for an after-hours illness.

Horrrible practice. He will ruin your credit because of their bad billing practices. The practice is kind to get you in the door but after that? Forget it. Tell your pediatrician your bad experience--they'll stop referring you to him. Horrible.

The care is mediocre and all the stories about them screwing up your bill are accurate. He submitted to my insurance company with the wrong name and wrong id number and when it was returned, he just charged my credit card for the full visit. They won't return calls or do anything to help you resolve the situation. Worst of all, he blames his office staff for the problems and calls them "morons".

This office apparently has no billing personnel, the Dr. apparently handles all tasks when he can. No past due notices are sent, very few follow up emails are returned and the next thing you know, your account is turned over to a nasty collections lawyer! The convenience of seeing this Dr. after hours definity has huge drawbacks! PLUS the Dr. has various entities (Pedsatnite, Dr. Bravo and Bravo Pediatrics)that he submits for billing purposes to your insurance company, not all entities may be approved with your insurance company (and it seems to be the pick of the draw which entity the Dr. files the claims under). We have had charges to all 3 entities and only one entity is approved by my insurance company. I have tried and tried to get Dr. Bravo to resubmit the claim under one of his other alias however I mind as well talk to the wall!! He just sent my account over to his Collections Attorney!What a swell Dr.! He must want to increase his practice with all his wonderful customer… service skills. ***If you have encountered problems with Dr. Bravo, please inform your pediatricians office so that they will not refer patients to this Dr. as well! Our voice can be heard! Thank you and Beware!!

Dr. Bravo is very professional. The staff was very attentive and offered us refreshments and snack...i guess they notice my child was very fussy and it helped a lot. My child had severe ear pains, sore throat, headache, and was feeling lethargic. She had Strep. Dr Bravo took the time to explain all the steps we needed to take to avoid this problem from happening again. I didn't get a follow up but that's okay, how much can I really expect from an after hours care.

When I had the audacity to question a charge on my bill, it was immediately turned over to a collection attorney. This is a chilling way of running a practice. In addition, I was told my account was over 60 days old, yet I had just received the bill less than 2 weeks before. I believe that I was treated in a manner that was not courteous nor respectful, in my opinion. I will never take my child to this doctor or practice again.
