Dr. Herbert Isadore James Jr, MD

I was referred to him by St joseph hospital cause I have Obstruction blockage ( Bilateral hydronephrosis) at first he put a catheter in and withing 7 days I lost 30 pounds I called nurses they told me I was straving myself told me to go to store and buy boost..Are you kidding me you cannot loose 30 pds in 7 days I called many times and the Dr and nurse have gave me a run around..So I had to go back to office for a appt and the first thing the Doctor told me is that you don't have to get the Nephrostomy Tube in Kidney and it will be a slow death I could not believe he said that..That was his first option..I said I'm a fighter I been dealing with recurrence cervical cancer 3x recurrence vulva cancer 2x so forth I did have tube put in but I had nothing but problems and I call that office non stop about it leaking and pain and they did nothing finnally I said I need to find new doctor! ! And that's exactly what I did! And now I have new urologist that listens and explains everything he… didn't! I'm so happy that I'm with new urologist and will have a second Nephrostomy Tube put in on other side!

Referred to Dr James by my PCP. Dr James was caring but firm, his diagnosis was spot on and he performed surgery on me with all my expectation properly set.I am now cancer free and he was very attentive.

Saw this guy twice. Both times he wanted to biopsy my prostate. Both times I refused. These occured ten years appart.Second time I refused the biopsy he got angry and told me I had prostate cancer, wrote me a nasty letter. Went to a prominant Urologist who said my prostate was normal.

Dr. James might be a competent Doctor, but I found him to be very pushy and oblivious to my problem. His bedside manner leaves much to be desired. As far as recommending him: NO WAY!!!!!!!

It's never pleasant to go to a urologist...need I tell you. But Dr. James has an extraordinarily good bedside manner and is very good at putting you at ease--in part because he has a good sense of humor. I think he is fairly knowledgeable, too. He moves quickly through the visit, but I never get the sense that he is too short on time to answer my questions fully. I recommend him strongly.
