Dr. Herbert Lewis Malinoff, MD

I wish I would have taken the time to read all the reviews before I went through with the appointment with this doctor. He doesn't even qualify to be named that. Please read all the reviews most of them are negative including Google before you go to him. I had the same thing happen as many have stated in their reviews. In my experience during the video call, he asked me to take my phone so he can look at my backyard. What? He also wanted me to quit seeing my therapist to see his psychologist. Very arrogant! When I went to get my labs drawn there were a bunch of drug and alcohol test included. He apparently didn't believe my answers. I suffer from daily cluster headaches so I can't drink and don't do illegal drugs. Stay away stay far away!

I find it sad, yet unsurprising, to see so many negative reviews of Dr. Malinoff. I was Dr. Malinoff’s patient for a few months, about a decade ago. An opiate addict new to treatment, I was eager to get healthy, and followed his directives to the letter - going to AA, never missing an appointment, and being scrupulously honest with his staff. After several appointments with his PA, the doctor saw fit to cut me off cold-turkey from Suboxone, because I was still drinking alcohol. I was floored, as I had not been told that his prescribing Suboxone was contingent upon my not drinking. I drank socially once or twice a week, and would have stopped immediately if I knew this was the case. I had been meticulously reporting every drink to his PA for weeks, after which I would be encouraged to work on not drinking, then given my Suboxone prescription. In order to even discuss going back on Suboxone, I had to make an appointment with Dr. Malinoff during weekday work hours, which I could not… manage for at least a week, due to my job. For those of you who have never experienced withdrawal, a week may not seem like a long time; for those of us who have experienced withdrawal, you know it would have been excruciating. Luckily, I found a wonderful addiction specialist whom I have been working with since then. Dr. Eric Coffman is clear about his requirements and consistent in his excellent methods. I have been happily free of opiates for over 8 years, and am grateful for Dr. Coffman’s compassionate and effective care

I have been to many medical offices, and have never had one treat me as poorly as this one. I showed up 12 minutes late, and my appointment was cancelled. This after waiting 40-50 minutes for other appointments to begin. The staff either lost or stole my prescription, and the receptionist stood up mockingly and did a tap dance to try to prove that she didn’t need pain medication. The Office manager is the worst - and is probably the reason for the bad attitude of the staff. Rude, condescending, and when I caught her lying she didn’t seem to care - seems like she must do it a lot. Beware!

My husband had to see this fraud of a Doctor, he gets paid from companies to make false statements and do what the companies want to see!!! He shouldn't even have a license to practice medicine.

This man is a joke. An arrogant, obnoxious, narcissistic, sad little man. He just waves his hand and dismisses anything you say. Insisting that real diseases and problems you have aren't your problem. Do not go to this disgusting excuse for a doctor. He acts like he is 12 years old, and that he knows everything and everyone else is wrong.

Worst. PM doctor. Ever. This man told me that it will take YEARS of counseling before I start seeing relief from my severe chronic pain. His solution for me was to send me to a social worker friend of his?? I have severe DDD, cervical radiculpathy, scoliosis, stenosis, and Fibro just to name a few. He basically called me a drug addict because Im a former smoker and nicotine is a drug! He walked out of the room leaving me in tears and whistled as he walked out, he was extremely proud of the fine job he did helping me through the most difficult time in my life. He helped me so I can take care of my son since I am a single mom, he was SO caring... NOT!!!!!! He couldnt care less. He DOES NOT DO HIS JOB he DOES NOT manage pain!!!!! He has an agenda and it's NOT HELPING YOU!! This man should be fired and reported to the Medical board. He WILL treat you like a drug addict whether you are one or not. The last thing on this man's mind is helping you, especially if you are in pain!! I believe… he put negative things in my chart because I've had similar treatment from U of M doctors after seeing him. He probably put that Im a drug addict because of the prior nicotine use. PLEASE if you are in pain I beg you, DO NOT go see this man! RUN the other way! You will get better medical care from your mailman!

I was a patient at PRS for over a year and I assure you that he wouldn’t even know who I am. His PA, who doesn’t listen or relate to her patients at all, appears to handle all of his appointments. I can’t even remember a time I saw the Dr. in the office. They make decisions about your care and follow up treatment before they even talk with you or truly understand why you’re there. The office manager is short tempered and rude and she is not in the least way accommodating. The entire staff is isolated and non-cohesive. I left and went to Dr. Wiener on Whitehall Drive in AA and had a very professional experience on the first visit. He asked a lot of questions about my pain and overall health and he explained what my care would be in a detailed and helpful manner. But most importantly, he really listened and said he will work with me to find every possible avenue to help manage my severe pain. Advice: Make a careful choice about your health care. I would suggest that you don’t go… to PRS, your money is good there but your “person” isn’t. Instead, go to someone who genuinely wants to help you.

Dr malinoff is great!!! I have lupus and fibromyalgia. My other doctors just was trying me out on all kinds of different pain meds that made me feel like a zombie. Dr malinoff was very caring and knowledgeable about my issues. I’m doing so much better than I was and I’ve been his patient for years. I do have one complaint though. He wasn’t in town when I had one of my appointments so I saw the nurse just to get my prescriptions. She was rude and didn’t listen to me. She told me I just needed to get out and do some exercise and perseeded to give me a list of places that I should go for that exercise. I left there feeling bad about myself. I’m very happy with dr malinoff, but I’ll never go to see any other person there except him.

I was sent to this Crackpot who simply told me All of my doctor's are Stupid to have me on all the medications I am on. I told him I've been taking most of them for 10 and 11 years with Zero Damage to Any of my organs! He said he would Have to Hospitilize me, take me off All of my current meds!! What an Idiot. I don't Appreciate being told my doctor's are All Stupid! He is the Stupid One. Do Not go there for Any Reason Whatsoever!!!!

Thank you Dr. Malinoff for all your help. It is great to know that there is a doc that cares for what he does. And is not in it to just hand out pills and collect a insurance card.
