Dr. Herbert Randall Squires, MD

It is the policy of this doctor and his office to perform a pregnancy test on "every woman with a uterus" that walks through their door, regardless of the need (i.e., my tubes were tied 13 years ago and I had not had sex in months due to issues I was having). I began refusing the tests only to still receive invoices billing me (and my insurance company) for tests that were NOT performed. I had to have a biopsy and was told on the telephone it was benign. However, at my follow-up appointment, he said it was "inconclusive...because the sample that was taken was too small". These two results are NOT the same thing. Because it was inconclusive, I could not have a hysterectomy but, instead, had to have a D&C first to be sure there was no cancer. I refused more pregnancy tests and hemoglobin tests because I needed neither. He became obsessed with wanting me to have a blood transfusion before the D&C (which was not needed and therefore I refused) and even questioned if I would have… one during the D&C (which should not be medically necessary either). He sent me for blood work several days before the surgery. Halfway through the blood draw I asked the phlebotomist why I had to have blood drawn. She said that the order was to determine my blood type for a possible transfusion! Again: more tests that I did not need and more bills that I had to pay, simply because he was obsessed with the desire to perform a procedure that I did not need. He and his staff have extremely poor communication skills and became upset when I asked specific questions regarding what was going to happen to me before, during, and after the procedures. They put forms in front of me before both the biopsy and the D&C, expecting me to sign that they had explained the procedure, the diagnosis, the prognosis, etc., yet they had explained absolutely nothing. When I began asking questions, their irritation was clear. I was even told "It takes longer to explain what we are going to do than it does to actually do it". I don't care how long it takes, a patient deserves to know what is going to happen to their body! The list could go on and on but I am sure anyone reading this would get the point. This man is not to be trusted. If you have no choice but to go to him and/or his office, look VERY closely at your bills to be sure you aren't being scammed for services that were not rendered.

First the office does not (communicate with each other) I prefer that explanation to they just give patients the run around. I went to the office with specific gynecological issues and they were BARELY addressed. The doctor was centered around genetic testing which may of been fine later but at $4000.00 not for me.( I could not find two people in the office that realized the cost of the test, the doctor gave me totally inaccurate information.) When I canceled my second appointment I tried for three weeks to get my lab work getting a different reason EACH TIME why I couldn't. I finally called Baptist Easley Hospital so they could help & now 4 weeks later my lab work "has been sent to me from" the doctor's office!!!! I do NOT live close to the office or would of gone in person. I'm still waiting....

Very knowledgable, caring and spends time with his patients. I do not live in this area and travel to his office for care. He is very thorough. We'll worth the drive...

The woman who wrote the lengthy negative review of this doctor needs to get over herself. Dr. Squires may not always have the best attitude but he is a very dedicated, experienced, gifted physician who cares deeply for his patients. The irate woman would not have been happy under any circumstances but also has to realize that health care is not free. It is a service that the physician deserves to be paid for. So, my feeling is for people to think before they post something so rude and negative. Examine yourself. Remember, people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

Had to use Dr. Squires in 2006 after I wanted my daughter born on the day that he was working at the hospital. He never asked what kind of birthing plan we wanted or if my fiance wanted to cut the cord. He even knicked my daughter above the eye when he cut her out after emergency c-section! Two weeks later, I was hospitalized for severe form of staph the he couldn't identify. They had to cut out about 5 lbs. of infection and then put me on a vac pac. The nurses at the hospital didn't care for him too much either. After returning to his office for vac pac maintenance, they had to rip off tape off my stomach, which hurt worse than the contractions, and he had the nerve to tell me to hush up so I wouldn't scare his other patients away!!! He is very uncaring and rude! I hope your visit with him is better than mine, but I GUARANTEE that I will NEVER see him or this office again!

BEWARE OF THIS OFFICE!!Doctor-I was under the impression that Dr. Squires was concerned for his patients. He took me in on an emergencey situation with no insurance. I explained to him before he ever touched me that my husband had been laid off and I was the only one supporting our family and would have to make payments. He accepted me in as patient. Over the course of a year he performed the same procedures (ultrasounds $400.00 and other things $350.00) a couple of times and at one point I had to come in several days in one month at over $100.00 a pop. Staff-His office manager, Melissa, and several other non-important staff, such as receptionist (Kristy), and appointment girl (Tara), are equal to a pack of ferral dogs. After calling for an emergency appointment and not hearing back from anyone for a week I was finally able to see the doctor, my appointment time was 4:30 and we finally left at 6:20. Total time on me 30 min. I explained my trouble with scheduling and at that time… named the names of everyone in the office I had spoken with. The doctor told me and my husband that in the future if i needed him for anything to call and ask that he return my call. 2 months later I received a discharge from the practice due to an account balance! Even with records to prove that all payments were made. So... I called him! 5 days later Melissa the office manager called and said "there was no way that he would call me. He did not do that, and the note in my file FROM THE DOCTOR said for her to call me about the billing." I asked her who said what the purpose of my call was? She said there was a note in my file that said "Pt. called after receiveing letter about bill and wants to speak to doc." I NEVER ONCE MENTIONED DURING MY INTITIAL CALL 5 DAYS BEFORE THAT THIS WAS A BILLING MATTER! Seems to me that doctor rides the fence and tells his patients one thing and lets the goons in his office handle things the way they seem fit. Having always paid any bill I owe, I am now sruggling with the fact that I am discharged from a doctor and a service I despartely need after having met his office's requirements! Hope everyone who reads this takes their business and health to Dr. Warren or the LADY doc's at Powdersville!
