Dr. Herman Paul Langner, MD

Rude office staff and doctor is not very engaged at sessions. Always have to start like I was a new patient.

Over the many years I have been with Dr. Langner, he has always been very reliable and incredibly helpful with my issues. He is genuinely concerned with my problems and always has very unique insight. The office is in a house, but that makes it a bit home-like feeling. He might be a little eccentric, which I actually like and makes me feel things are not just cookie-cutter with him. Recommend him highly.

Charges are high and I was always double billed each visit: one for councelling, second charge for prescription. Stuff is rude and one time they wanted to charge me for cancelling visit 24h in advance since they said they need 48h? (their voice mail said 24h also the reason was my baby was sick). They wanted to charge me for filling out paperwork for FMLA even though the FMLA paperwork stated that dr can bill the disability company. Made me come every 1-2 months to charge close to $300 (I have high deductible). No symphaty to have my portion lowered so I switched to someone else and now pay half the price. This doctor gave me more anxiety instead of easing it.

For most of the time I saw him, I felt like he was being unfair to me. I started seeing him because I needed a psychologist's or psychiatrist's approval to return to my university. He was supposed to report to the Head of the Counseling Center at my university, who was also a psychologist. At some point, after I got the approval, I switched mental health providers, with my university's permission. My new psychologist, after reporting to the University Psychologist for first time, told me that "she sounded impressed," when she realized that I had switched mental health providers. Whenever he doesn't understand why something adverse happened to you, he just starts blaming you. He doesn't understand that society has changed since the time from when he was young. If something you experienced conflicts with his established worldview, he'll simply doubt you, and move forward. He'll also raise his voice with you, in order to pressure you to conform to his views. After arguing for… multiple sessions, and not giving in to him raising his voice, I finally got him to admit that he was wrong about something. When he admitted that he was wrong, I realized that he was trying to justify another person's actions, because it was hard for him to believe that this person in my story was at fault. Herman Langner also tried to dissuade me from pursuing a career in Psychology, because he didn't think I'd be admitted into graduate programs, due to my past record. Two years later, thanks for the encouragement.
