Dr. Hillary P Thomasser, MD

If I could give less stars I would. I was unconscious when I ended up in the ER. The last thing I remember was in my college classroom in breakout sessions. Dr. Thomasser was the first and last person I saw when I finally became conscious. I was confused as to where I was and how did I get here. Dr. Thomasser walks in with my discharge papers and says to me "Don't do drugs." I looked at her with such confusion because I literally don't do any drugs and I barely drink. She then said that I tested positive for amphetamines and then it clicked and I replied back to her you mean this prescribed bottle of Adderall XR I take every day? Pulling it from my backpack to show her and she just replies back "oh that would explain the results" and she walked out the room. No apology or acknowledgment that she screwed up. I was still not told how and what ended me up there. I was not sure if I could leave. Additionally not one person asked me anything cause if they did they would have found out… that I was recover from mutiple concussions. Instead I was left with confusion on what happened.

My spouse was seen in an ER by this individual who presumably has medical training. He was sent home without discharge paperwork and when I called to ask about follow-up, she 1) began to talk to me about a different patient (even after I provided his name and birthdate) and 2) denied that my husband did not have discharge papers and had the audacity to accuse him of having left them on the Uber ride home. As we spoke, a staff member let her know that the paperwork was still in his room. She informed me I could pick up the papers. I asked her to send them to me and she said there are also prescriptions. I asked her to call in the prescriptions rather than have me drive there to get them and she responded with a long sigh asking me which pharmacy. When I asked her what the prescription medication was for, she replied and I said as far as I knew that was OTC and she condescendingly told me that we were not in Canada and in the USA, the medication is not OTC. When asked about labs or… imaging, she denied needing any as his case was simple and straightforward. I am in the health care field myself and completely disagree as do the 3-4 other HCPs that I consulted. Upon arrival at the pharmacy to pick up his medications, I was informed by the pharmacist that the medication was OTC and he wondered why it was called in as a Rx. As you can see, this all speaks for itself. I will be following up with a patient advocate so that this does not happen to another patient.

I had issues getting into inpatient care and instead of the facility focusing on this goal they spent more time seeing if I was legit in my motivation for care. No social worker on this shift and no support from staff.
