He truly cares about his patients.

I am so dismayed by the treatment I received from Dr. Aihara. Please reconsider having a procedure with him. He was 2 hours late arriving for colonoscopy, which was scheduled with him 2 months + in advance. I had no idea why he was late and neither did the staff. They had not heard from him. This was an appointment for a high risk colon cancer surveillance based on prior cancerous polyp removal. I was confined to a bed, hooked up to an IV waiting for him to arrive, alone in a room. The nurses were both embarrassed and dumbfounded as to where he was. Once he arrived (2 hours after the appointment) he told me I had to wait another 50 minutes as he had decided to see another patient before me. But, I WAS THE PATIENT waiting the longest! He wanted me to wait another hour with nary an apology. I was ill, vomiting, dehydrated and had no transportation home at that point. I ended up having the procedure done by another physician. I doubt I will ever use Brigham for any of my care after… this treatment. I found out later thebpatient he saw who was scheduled an hour AFTER me was not an emergency. This is not how hospitals should treat patients.

Dr Aihara performed a very complex polypectomy of a very large polyp in a difficult location of my colon. He explained the process to me beforehand and although he encountered some problems he masterfully completed the resection.
