She hugged my daughter. My daughter was not crying or upset or needed a hug. It was a greeting - like, how are you doing since I saw you last - feeling OK? Then she sat next to her on the 'patient bench' and chatted the rest of the visit conversationally like people do - not like doctors or medical personnel EVER do. It was really amazing to watch and see. I'm not generally impressed with pediatricians as a rule and sometimes doubt their effectiveness, but I could tell she really cared, was dedicated, and was one of the people who get into medicine to help, and who have stayed despite the headaches, red tape, bureaucracy, and ever-lowering reimbursement's and higher patient loads. We were not rushed and everything was explained in easy to understand terms, and more importantly, she helped my daughter feel safe and cared for - and then provided that care. Catch her if you can.
