Dr. Horst Karl A Schirmer, MD

Dr. Schirmer treated me at John’s Hopkins in 1966 when I was 15 years old. He undoubtedly saved my life with his intelligence, compassion, and willingness to try a new path. It was a terrifying time to say the least. At 15 in 1966, it was unusual to be treated as an adult in charge of my own body. Nevertheless he was amazing, sharing his own challenges to help me navigate mine. After years of follow up he assured me I could move on without him and live a normal life. I knew my case and ultimate surgery was experimental but had no idea the extent of it until many years later when I wanted to have a baby. We had my Hopkins records transferred and my obstetrician was astonished by his genius and by how well I had done. My daughter is now 36 and I am a healthy 72!!! Dr. Schirmer I hope you get to see this review and remember that young woman you saved with a partial pudendal neurectomy. You made my life and family possible when everyone had just about given up. I was a patient of Dr. Schirmer's since I was 5 years old, I am now 55. I consider him to be my second father. He is the best. He retired a few years ago from his practice and I have never missed a doctor more than I miss this man. They do not make them like Dr. Schirmer anymore.

He was my urulogist many years ago, and I enjoyed having him for my surgery.
