Dr. Howard Belfer, MD

I agree with the 1 star review and surprised he received good review that read like commercials. I needed a new Dr. for my epilepsy when I moved. I found him in Aetna’s list of providers. He did a 5 minute exam, asked me what meds I was taking, gave me a new prescription, didn’t have time for questions, and left. I paid my co-pay. After, I was told he didn’t take any Obama care plans even thru Aetna, and billed me the full cost. Later his report didn’t match what 2 previous Dr. had. He had examination results he never did and symptoms we never talked about.

As a decades long migraineur whose headaches were now out of control, I was looking options. So many new drugs available - what might work? After a neuro history and physical, Dr. Belfer sat quietly in his office and discussed options/risks/side effects - that made me feel a part of the decision. On my third visit I tried Botox and it seems he was right to encourage me to do so - my headaches are significantly improved. His staff managed all the insurance etc. for the Botox too.

Dr Belfer is an excellent Doctor, he gets to the point of figuring out your problem. He diagnoses your problem in his office, & gives you the least medication that can truly help you. During his examination he gives the most time possible to figure out your concerns & he gives his opinion based on his great knowledge he optaned over the years of practice.ð???

I'm surprised Dr. Belfer received such good reviews. There's misinformation in his report about the examination he actually performed on me and he was even derogatory in his opinionated statements; not fully listening and taking note of physical symptoms that I had consulted him on. He spent more time talking to my insurance company , beforehand. No wonder it had taken so long for me to receive his report.

Dr. Belfer is excellent. I especially like his view on prescribing just enough medication for my problem, which helps avoid unwanted side effects. He gets to the "heart of the Matter".

I have been seeing Dr Belfer regarding a medical problem for over 20 years. He is a kind, caring and knowledgeable physician. He will spend as much time as needed during regular appoints as well as return phone calls the same day.Refrills for prescriptions are taken care of immediately.I would highly recommend Dr Belfer.
