Dr. Howard Stephen Buchoff, MD

He is the worst doctor I’ve ever encountered!!! He doesn’t even acknowledge you with respect when he enters the room, he’s so rude and has an attitude when you ask him questions !!!! All is does is prescribes meds and leaves the room ! Don’t waste your time going to his office, you won’t be happy !!!

All this Dr. wants to do is peddle Rx's for prednisone and plaquenil in high doses. You'll come in with questions and his response is keep taking your meds or if your lucky he'll increase the dose and he does this with all the empathy of a rock. Find anybody else.

My mother has been going to Dr. Buchoff for a number of years now but itâ??s time to finally make the switch. He is the worst physician weâ??ve ever encountered period. 1. Absolutely no bedside manner whatsoever. He showâ??s no compassion, concern or empathy for his patients. The longest visit weâ??ve had with him, with him actually in the examination room has been 4min 22 seconds. He averages around 2min otherwise. Comes in, says hello without looking at you, glances at the chart, if itâ??s time for blood work heâ??ll tell you otherwise heâ??ll just say Iâ??ll see you again in ___ months. Leaves. Undeniably no concern or interest in whatever the patient has to say. Usually pretends like he never heard us the first or second time. We have to try to make repeated attempts at a question in the 120secs he gives us to try to get a response from him. Once he turns his back to you, visit is over. 2. Questionable competency. Even though he has a paper chart he seems to stare intently… at during each visit, he can never recall what the patient had done previous visits, what the patients concern is or what lab results meant. One of many examples: my mother is usually seen every 6 months, however we had to go in acutely due to a change in her condition. Without even hearing her concerns or doing a physical exam, he immediately referred to her another dermatologist and to follow up with him in 2 weeks. We went to the specialist who said my motherâ??s rash is due to lupus and the rheumatologist should be the one treating it, following up with it. When we went back to Buchoff 2 weeks later, he had no recollection of him sending my mother to the dermatologist, did not care what the dermatologist said and forgot he had ordered blood work. The only positive about this office is his office staff. Very friendly and do not ever attempt to make you feel rushed. Polar opposites of the doctor. Not sure how any of them can stand to for work him. Or perhaps we are the only ones treated this way by Buchoff due to our skin color. Not sure if he does this with other patients but itâ??s like this every time with us. He does not care to listen to any of my momâ??s questions or concerns. Itâ??s been like this for years and Iâ??ve insisted my mother to find another rheumatologist but itâ??s difficult due to lack of access and location. After todayâ??s visit, enough is enough. Weâ??ve been fortunate my momâ??s condition has been stable for so many years however due to a flare up and lack of competency from Dr. Buchoff, we must find another rheumatologist. I hope this review will shine some light into the reality of his practice and encourage others to look elsewhere if they want to actually be seen, heard, and have an actual discussion about their condition, prognosis and treatment options with a physician

As a new patient I am unsure if I will remain a patient. Dr. Buchoff gives me the impression that he's late for golf. In and out of the exam room in a flash. Maybe some patients like that, I'd prefer him to take his time. My next appointment will determine if I stay.

I am amazed that there is a long wait time for appointments with this Dr. Honestly, he might be getting too old to do this. Could not figure out why I was sent to him nor provide any relevant information to me (and I was pretty well-versed on why I was referred to this type of Dr.). He then completed a cursory (i.e. waste of time) exam and charged $250 for the visit. Has to be a better alternative.

Clearly a brilliant physician. I am a new patient and I was majorly impressed with the Dr. and staff.

This doctor never helped me one bit and obviously couldn't care less! I went to him for years (and was very sick) and he never even pretended to remember my name or anything about me. He would read the file in front of me because he couldn't take two minutes out of his "assembly line" type schedule to do it in the hall. All he cares about is the money.

Dr. Buchoff displays a very professional approach to his patients. He is quiet but, if you have questions, he takes the time to answer them. His office manager Linda has a good hand at how smoothly the office progresses. His nurse Trish is very personable and listens to you. She has excellent follow through. I have been recommending Dr. Buchoff to everyone I know or meet that has arthritis problems.etc. When I have been in a flare up with RA and in severe pain, his office staff get me in that day. Dr. Buchoff shows concern and empathy for the condition I am in. He has stabilized my RA. He is an excellent physician!

I have been going to Dr. Buchoff for about 12 years now and I have nothing but good things to say about him and his staff. Dr. Buchoff is a bit quiet, but he knows his stuff and is willing to do whatever he can to help you feel better and find what works for you. His staff is friendly and extremely efficient and they are always very helpful. I also appreciate that they do your bloodwork right there in the office. I would highly recommend Dr. Buchoff to anyone.

Dr Buchoff is an excellent doctor. He is caring will go the extra mile to help in your needs such as a wheel chair etc. He diagnosis your problem quickly but yet spends the time you need for him to answer questions. Appointments for an office visit may take a little while but sitting in the waiting room is only 5 min or so. He runs a very effecient office. He is a little quiet but I like that so, I will have a chance to talk. I would strongly recommend him.
