Visited Dr. Congress 4 years ago. He found a hiatal hernia tear. Prescribed a liquid medicine which I took for two months. Having NO problems with hiatal hernia again..

I recently underwent a colonoscopy by Dr. Congress. The nurse told me that a large number of colonoscopies were given the day before - approximately 40+. I was asked one question by Dr. Congress before I fell asleep due to the anesthesia: "Have you ever had polyps?" When awake, a nurse handed me a patient report that showed several colored photos, and I was told to get another colonoscopy in five years. When I called Dr. Congress's office the next day to find out what my report and the photos meant, I was told a biopsy was done and to call in two weeks if the results weren't mailed by then. I also asked for a copy of Dr. Congress's report, a report that is more detailed than the one page patient report. I was told to call my family doctor, as they would I not mailed a copy to me personally. WHY??? I have patient rights!! When I called two weeks later, I was told there was a mistake - no biopsy was done. I was also told that the several color photos on my patient copy were… taken as "markers" for my insurance company to prove the colonoscopy was done. When I asked what the photos meant, I was again told they were insurance markers. I saw my specialist this week, who provided me with a copy of Dr. Congress's detailed report. He also informed I had a right to the doctor's report. If you are scheduled for a colonoscopy with Dr. Congress, you are not given an appointment to see him before the procedure - you show up at the hospital and are wheeled in the operating room, then he shakes hands with you as you fall asleep. He does not call or follow up with you, nor does his staff. In my case, I did all the follow up.

I cannot fathom the source of the negative reviews that were posted. This physician is knowledgeable, warm and caring. I have had multiple colonoscopies and endoscopies with Dr. Congress and all went well. My wife has had colonoscopies and endoscopies with Dr. Congress as well. His staff is very caring and knowledgeable. Not only were we provided copies of our pathology reports, Dr. Congress helped us send them on to the Mayo Clinic for a second opinion. Mayo confirmed the pathology results.

My mother just lost her life due to the incompetence of this physican. Yes she was awarded a settlement. Unfortunately we had to watch her pain and suffering. Bottom line. Make sure after your testing you get an actual copy of the pathology report and read it. She was told her results were benign but in actuality she had high grade dysplasia which by the time she discovered the mistake she had mets to the liver with stage IV colon cancer. I hope this will help save a life!

Hard to get appointment; waited over an hour after appt time to see Dr.; had been repeat patient/billed as new patient; did not diagnose, prescribed med that did not work; asked for further tests...he declined. Did sigmoidoscopy that was very painful & would not stop even though complained of extreme pain. Rushed through appt after waiting an hour.. now being billed a new patient, complained not paying for new patient visit, called family member about bill against fair credit acts or fair debt collection acts,sent to collection agency who ceaselessly hounds us even though have told staff and collection agemts to cease. Overall very wrong treatment and follow up plus harassing harassing ceaselessly by colletion agent for what amounts to $100 overcharge that he and staff refues to correct... suggest anyone see another practiioner who is more sensitive caring an who does not have staff who refuses to stop harassing when wrongfully billed! all it appears to support his lifestyle in million… residence by taking advantage of patients..
