Dr. Howard Brush Dean III, MD

Nearly two years ago, I fell directly on my knee and was in a great deal of pain for three months, during which time I was being treated by Dr. Dean. He completely misdiagnosed my injury. After I insisted on an MRI and he reluctantly agreed to order one, he initially called me at home to tell me I had fractured my kneecap, only to deny subsequently that he had ever said that. When I was clearly not healing and could not bear any weight on that leg, his sarcastic advice was not to run or play soccer, neither of which I ever did. He was unresponsive to phone calls and was unpleasant to work with. Finally, after my insurer allowed me to switch doctors, a new orthopedic surgeon immediately recognized that I needed surgery. He got me into the OR within a week and repaired a torn mensicus, removed a cartilege flap, and removed scar tissue. Within two months, I was fine and back to a high level of physical activity. I would steer far clear of Dr. Dean!
