Dr. Howard N Delman, OD

I absolutely never write reviews about people or my experiences but I was very upset after meeting with Dr Delman today. I was super excited about getting my eye checked for the first time but I left feeling cheated of a good experience. I will say he seems like he could be a very nice man upon first meeting him. We chatted and he made me feel comfortable while talking with him and the secretary in the lobby. I told him I had never had my eyes checked before but I felt like I could use some glasses. I didn’t know what to expect from the exam. Once I was in the exam room with him, I tried to explain how I don’t have the worst vision but from a distance things get blurry. I had more that I wanted to share with him but he made it clear we were to move on with the tests. I felt rushed and that I wasn’t being listened too. During the test, he would flip different lenses in front of my eyes asking which lens was better. On one lens in particular, he showed it to me twice and when I ask him… for a third time to please go back so I can compare the two different lenses. He laughed and said “I’m not going back.” Obviously I was wasting his time. I was shocked because I didn’t feel I was asking to much. I would understand if I had asked numerous times but I was only asking for a third time. I don’t know how these exams are supposed to go but I didn’t feel like I was asking for a lot. Maybe I’m wrong? I don’t do well with confrontation so from then on I kept things to ‘yes’ or ‘no’ answers and didn’t say anything else. Honestly, I felt like walking out. I did get a prescription from him but I have no idea if it’s even accurate. I just wanted out of there so badly that I just said things looked fine when they didn’t. I’m not saying he’s a jerk, because he did seem nice, but I don’t know what to think of him from this experience. I definitely know I’m not going back. I never want to feel like an inconvenience to anyone, especially a doctor that’s seeming me. I need a doctor what will listen to me and make me a priority. Dr Delman did not.
