Dr. Howard Mark Goldberg, MD

If you judge a doctor by his handshake, Dr. Goldberg's was as limp as a three-day-old landlocked fish. Absolutely dismissive. Don't know why he bothered to see me other than my co-payment. Kept telling me that my problem was TMJ Disorder. Didn't listen. Just kept saying it was TMJ Disorder causing chronic pain in my ear and nowhere else. Never offered to order a test. He didn't care and just wanted me to leave. Explained to him that TMJ Disorder was a misdiagnosis. A dentist who has treated me for 20 years, an orthodontist, an orthodontic surgeon, and a highly informed oral surgeon have all told me, without the slightest doubt, my ear pain has zero connection to TMJ Disorder. My TMJ Disorder was corrected 15 years ago. Dr. Goldberg stopped for a minute and then suggested my ear pain had to be neurological in nature potentially related to migraine syndrome. REALLY? Was trying to explain to doc that I knew now he was grasping hard at straws because a neurologist has not once, not twice,… but three times confirmed my ear pain is not in any way connected to a neurological condition such as migraine syndrome. My anger at Dr. Goldberg was triggered. ALL of this information about potential TMJ Disorder and potential neurological conditions related to migraine syndrome were meticulously documented in my medical record. He had not bothered to review any of my chart. Quickly referred me to a neurologist, anyway, who was understandably livid that I had been referred by an ENT to a neurologist when every single symptom and every single sign that I had indicted ear pain that is treated by an ENT and not by a neurologist who does not specialize in ear pain that is treated by an ENT. Thank you to the truly compassionate nurse who ensured the referral would be rejected and reportedly Dr. Goldberg would be informed the neurologist did not appreciate such an unethical, inappropriate referral by Dr. Goldberg to waste my time and the neurologist's time. Don't recommend.
