Dr. Howard J Ludington III, DDS

Been a patient of Dr. Ludington for over 30 years. He puts his patient's care before all else, and has a great staff. His skills are exceptional, the office has the best equipment, and the staff is highly trained. If I have to be that chair, I trust Dr. Ludington's work.

If you want to wait a long time to see a dentist who doesn't really care who you are or what your problem is, this is the place.

Dr. Ludington performed a perfect root canal procedure for me 10 years ago. My general dentist in Florida said that the root canal was done very professionally. I wish I was in NH now...

After my second implant performed by Dr. Ludington, I continue to rate him extremely high. He's works carefully and safely performing difficult procedures correctly the first time. He uses a new "guided implant" procedure which gives excellent results. Excellent and careful use of novocaine eliminated any pain. I found him to have a most caring manner with regular checks on how I was doing. An excellent endodontist right here in Portsmouth.

Although I scheduled my appointment for a root canal weeks in advance, I was never told that it would take two appointments for the procedure. I waited over 45 minutes in the waiting room and then even more time in the exam chair. I know that novocaine takes time to work but it took this Dr. an hour to give three novocaine shots. He gives one then walks away. Gives one more - walks away. I've never had this happen with any other dentist. Finally, the Dr. returns and does a very simple procedure that takes about 10 minutes and tells me I'll have to schedule a second appointment. The next available appointment is 3 weeks away. Once again, I wait over 45 minutes in the waiting room and once again it takes an hour to get the novocaine shots (because he leaves to work on other patients while you're sitting there). The root canal itself was painless but this place needs some serious time management and this Dr. needs to work on his bedside manner.

Booking an appointment with Dr. Ludington is no problem however, once you get there , you feel like you've been overbooked on an airline waiting to be bumped. They never tell you the dentist is behind until 45 plus minutes has rolled on by. It has been a very unpleasant experience. I have never quite seen an office like this with tons of staff but no communication. You also get the sense that when the dentist does see you, he's doing you a favor. Typical elitist attitude

Dr. Luddington is highly skilled and. very businesslike He tells you upfront what the procedure will entail, what it will cost, and how long it will take. I had two root canals performed by this Doctor and they were relatively painless. He does everything right the first time.I went to him because a previous dentist did a root canal that failed. I will never go to anyone else for serious dental surgery.
