Summary
Born to a Clinical Psychologist and a Home Economics teacher, I was introduced early to the importance of mental well-being and practical life skills. This unique upbringing paved the way for a career dedicated to mental health and personal development. I began exploring mental health practices in 1972 with Transcendental Meditation, laying a solid foundation for a lifelong commitment to healing and personal growth. In 1985, I earned a Masters in Counseling Psychology from Cambridge College. Since then, the increasing prevalence of substance use disorders has driven me to expand my knowledge and methodologies continually. Always at the forefront of innovative treatment techniques, I integrate hypnosis and meditation into my practice, specializing in trauma substance use disorders and aiding adolescents and young adults with "arrested development." Recently, I’ve adopted SKY Breath Meditation as an effective tool for managing anxiety. Throughout my diverse career, I amassed a wealth of …experience across various settings. This includes working in multiple medical and psychiatric hospitals, participating in emergency services teams, and managing a D42/Drug And Alcohol Education program for the judicial system. Additionally, I’ve contributed as a therapist in several community service programs, overseen a residential program for adults with disabilities, and provided counseling at an alternative education high school. Certified as a Recovery Coach Professional and Recovery Coach for the Emergency Room by the Connecticut Community for Addiction Recovery (CCAR), I have a profound understanding of addiction and recovery. I began performing interventions early in my career, receiving training from Dr. Judith Lancowitz of Arise Invitational Intervention and later becoming a certified interventionist through Jeff and Debora Jay of Love First Interventions. This expertise has enabled me to provide intervention training across the United States and Canada and to serve an international clientele, including work in Great Britain, Portugal, and Australia. In addition to my clinical work, I’ve hosted two podcasts, “The Sober Network Recovery Podcast” and “Addiction- Got A Minute?”. Despite a busy professional life, I maintain a passion for music as a dedicated rock and roll drummer, dream of surfing the waves in San Diego, and served as a pilot with the USCG Air Auxiliary. My multifaceted career reflects a deep commitment to supporting and improving the lives of those struggling with mental health and substance use disorders. My innovative approach, unique and diverse experience, and compassionate care continue to impact individuals, and quite literally: “Meet Them Where They Are At!”
