Dr. Howard Clyde Martin, MD

Like the other reviewer, I was floored- actually amazed by the negative reviews. I will say this... Dr.Martin is a straight shooter and if you are not ready to hear the ugly truth about your health, or if you're looking for a doc to sell you a magic pill, powder or potion....then he's probably not the doc for you. He told me what my lack of diet and exercise was doing to my body. He was very sincere in his interest to help me help myself. He made excellent suggestions about trying a few different things to treat my asthma and he effectively treated my out of control high blood pressure. I keep going back because he's a kind, knowledgeable, straight forward and an effective physician.

I'm so surprised by the one-star reviews that I kept checking the address to make sure I had the same doctor. Dr. Martin treated me and my boyfriend. I had an appointment and my boyfriend did not. He and his assistant were exceptionally professional, friendly, and far more caring than almost any other doctor I've had. Yes, the office needs a new coat of paint and has gates on the window (this is basically uptown after all). But think of it like health care in Cuba. You don't get frills but you get some really good doctors. That's Dr. Martin. Don't know what the being called "fat" comment was about or how he insulted someone's girlfriend (details please, reviewers?].

Didn't solve problem and insulted my girl friend and I. Caution!

I am in the process of reporting this doctor to the Illinois Medical Board. He is rude, inconsiderate, and has ZERO concept of an appropriate way to speak with patients. The office is FILTHY and unprofessional. He made me feel so uncomfortable that I literally walked out in the middle of my appointment after waiting over an hour. This is the worst experience I have ever had with a medical professional.

He lowered my self esteem and made me hate going to the doctor's office because I didn't want to be called FAT.
