Dr. Howard Gordon Muntz, MD

I think he's retired now, but it's important for me to tell my story - 8 years ago, Dr Muntz experimented on me without my informed consent and mutliated my entire reproductive system. I was sent to him by my gynecologist Dr Heidi Knickerbocker to remove a single uterine fibroid. As I learned after the fact, she sent me to Dr Muntz because he was interested in trying out the endometrial ablation procedure, something he had not done before. I was not informed of this fact prior to him performing an endometrial ablation on me after removing my small uterine fibroid. He also had a fellow gynecologic oncologist in the operating room to observe the experimental procedure - which I also was not informed of prior. He scarred and mutilated the lower portion of my uterus with scalding water, but left the top portion of the uterus in tact, which meant that endometrial tissue would still shed monthly (I was pre-menopausal at 48yo) but had nowhere to exit the uterus but out the fallopian tubes.… Which it did. Causing fallopian and ovarian bursting cysts and sudden onset endometriosis, as endometrial tissue was repeatedly released into my pelvic cavity. Six months later, after debilitating pain, I underwent a total hysterectomy - uterus, fallopian tubes, ovaries, and cervix, all damaged by this procedure I did not request nor consent to. When I went to speak to him after I learned what he'd done and asked why he did what he did without making getting my informed consent, he said - and I quote - "Well, I took a paternal approach to your care and made the decision for you. I shouldn't have done that." No, Mr Muntz, you most definitely should not have. To this day, I suffer scar adhesions and was not able to have any estrogen assistance when my entire reproductive system was removed because of the endometriosis caused by the back flow of his botched ablation procedure. This man chose to deliberately cover up his intentions (he called it "cauterizing the area" when I questioned the line on the consent form) and to experiment on me rather than simply provide the treatment I was sent to him for - the removal of a single fibroid. His experiment literally scarred me for life.

He was my surgeon for ovarian cancer in 2004 and I thought he was wonderful, thorough and kind. Excellent surgeon....I am still alive in 2020.

If you have to have cancer, you want Dr. Muntz taking care of you. He's the best.

I was 34 when diagnosed with cervical cancer. Dr. Muntz was so kind, caring, and compassionate during my care. He did what it took to "preserve my fertility", and I am now the healthy, happy mom of a nine-year old boy! I have since had a hysterectomy (by Dr. Muntz), and I often think back and appreciate so much the care he gave me. He has an excellent bedside manner, and never tried to sway my decision, he simply provided the facts and helped me to make the best choice(s) for me. I would recommend him to anyone!

My elderly mom was diagnosed with cancer of the uterus. I didn't think she could survive surgery. But Dr. Muntz did her hysterectomy with a robot. She went home the next day!

I could never say enough about the care I received when I had surgery. I am certain that God let us be transferred to the West Coast so that I could have the best treatment in the world when my cancer was found. After my GYN told me that I would be going to Seattle for my surgery on Friday, Dr. Muntz's office called a few minutes later and everything was set for me to be in Seattle the following Monday with surgery on Tuesday. I would recommend him to my family and friends.
