Dr. Howard Silcoff

My family and I cannot say enough about Dr. Silkoff’s care of my elderly parents for over twenty years. He is nothing short of extraordinary. Talented, competent, compassionate with a deep concern and a listening ear. I did not think that Dr’s like him, who have a strong vocational sense of their practice, still existed. They do. He always went above and beyond and helped. Truly helped. He is known all over Ithaca and Dryden. We owe him a debt of gratitude for the manner in which he cared for my elderly father that we can never repay. Thank you!

Very thoughtful and caring, he is a skilled diagnostician and really knows what he's doing, he figured out what was wrong with me right away. I trust him and his expertise and highly recommend him!

I've been seeing Dr. Silcoff for many years and although I don't need a lot of health care services, when I do see him, he is very attentive and goes out of his way to ensure I get the treatment I need, even seeing me outside of normal business hours prior to us leaving for vacation. I've had nothing but positive experiences with Dr. Silcoff. I see that one of the comments about this practice is the wait times. I suspect that part of that wait time is related to their attentive care. I never feel rushed when I'm there, and they make sure to answer all of my health care questions without rushing me out the door.

But its impossible to get an appointment. Dryden family medicines sucks!!!!!!!!!! And as good of a doctor as he is,,,, he is car less about keeping his schedule and it pisses me off. So I'm done with them. I just got an appointment through them for two months away to be seen, I thought they were joking. Rub it on your chest I'm gone!!

I had a continuing issue. I went in on a Tuesday. Called on a Thursday still having issues. Put off over the weekend. Then given an appointment for Tuesday which the receptionist forgot to write down with another doctor in the service. (Told I had an appointment on Monday before I even called on Monday!) Told when I asked to see the doctor that it would be several days before he could see me.

Conservative on medicating. Good diagnostician. Friendly. Takes as much time as needed.

Initially my experience was good. However as time went on appts with my physician were difficult to obtain, generally handed off to the NP. Follow up calls were as long as 6 mos after a visit. Diabetes care was non existent with not even and HbA1C done in a period of 1 yr.Discharged me from local hospital after being admitted for an intestinal obstruction without f/u instruction or even a bedside visit.Office practices were to charge me 20% of their posted rates, not what the insurance company agreed upon rates. The overcharges then lagged over 12 mos, and not notified of the over charging until we inquired, still took months to reimburse.
