Dr. Howard Obert Thompson, MD

I went to doctor Thompson a few years ago when i found out my baby was going to have severe issues. Thompson was very kind and straightforward, which i was happy about. His receptionist, on the other hand, treated not only myself but at least 4 other patients very poorly, like we were beneath her. If you are coming to a neonatal specialist, literally the last thing you need is to be treated disrespectfully by someone like that. I personally would choose a different doctor unless they get rid of her.

Dr. Thompson was very knowledgeable in his field and made me feel at ease each time I was there for my appontments. He is very friendly, and has a good sense of humor.

After reading several reviews I was worried about how my appointment would go. He was very strait forward and to the point.

Everyone seems to take Dr. Thompson the wrong way!!! I have been through 2 pregnancies with him and im about to start my 3rd and he is very professional but he is also very blunt which is what i think ppl mistake for rude!! I had no problems at all with him!! I guess he just isn't a doctor for fragile people!!

Although he is a little quirky, Dr Thompson was an absolute Godsend for our family. He came within an hour of my emergency admission on Christmas Eve and spent hours addressing my endless questions and concerns while I was on hospital bed rest for an entire month. I would recommend him to anyone with a high risk or complicated pregnancy. I truly believe he saved my son's life.

Dr. Thompson was rude, condescending, and arrogant. I saw him for one appt and will not be going back. He rolled his eyes at my husband and I the entire appt. He proceeded to tell me until I had lost multiple babies he was not willing to do a cerclage, which is ridiculous with my history of incompetent cervix. I wouldn't trust my pregnant dog with Dr. Thompson. Do not go to him, I would rather drive an extra hour to Kansas City and get proper care for my babies!

It is a shame that this doctor is the only peritinologist in the area. He still uses NPH insulin for Diabetics, which is almost 30 years old. Dr. Thompson ACTUALLY recommended that my wife be switched from her Lantus and Humolog (what researchers are calling the latest medical breakthroughs) to this "cheap" insulin. His reasoning was that the kidneys and liver degrade the new insulins and reduce effectiveness during pregnancy. FACT: The insulins remain in the subcutaneous fat and NEVER interact with the kidneys OR liver. If anything the hormones may interfere, but still, not impressed with this doctor. Although I will say that diabetes is but one of 100 problems that he may deal with, so he may still have valuable practices with other complications.

Horrible bedside manner. there is ton more to this story, but can't give specifics right now. It is very sad that this is the only high risk doctor in this area. If possible go somewhere else
