Dr. Howard Seth Weiss, MD

He was just released from prison where he plead guilty to being a pill mill and money laundering charges.

Needing critical medication as I was nearly out he called and said he was retiring and could not see me. This left me in dire straights with no medication for 2 weeks.

It is true that Dr. Weiss only accepts cash. Frankly, I don't blame him. Insurance companies are horrific to deal with when it comes to psychiatry. Any patient can tell you how difficult it is to get an appointment and quality psychiatric care through insurance companies. When you call Dr. Weiss, he will get you an appointment on the same day. He has a very deep knowledge of the nuances of different conditions, which is not something I've ever experienced. One of the reviews called him a drug dealer and that's just not true. I take a controlled substance and he monitors it carefully. He does keep notes because I saw him years ago and, when I came back 5 years later, he knew everything about me. He's a NY'er and I think that turns some people off - he talks fast and he can sometimes seem eccentric, but, he is smart and, like me, he is purposefully contrary to the traditional hoops and restrictions that today's managed care puts patients through - if you're in a crisis, dealing… with all of that can be very stressful. If you can afford to pay out of pocket for the care, it's worth it.

He may or may not be a good psychiatrist. BE AWARE ! He accepts only cash. Only cash. Also, you will have to sign a form that is very, very fuzzy and totally unable to read. This doctor may have helped some, but things seem real, real fishy. Corrupt.

Dr. Weiss is wonderful. Answers his own phone (even while on vacation!) and was able to see me immediately. He is friendly, kind, straightforward, and gets things taken care of quickly. Couldn't ask for more, and so thankful for the expert help!

I have never encountered a doctor such as Dr. Weiss. He is simply amazing....warm, caring, compassionate, really cares, brilliant mind….has helped me and four members of my family when no other psychiatrist over a period of 19 years could be of help. I was not going to submit a review but am compelled to do so by reading some other reviews, supposedly by other patients, who call Dr. Weiss a "drug dealer," "only cares about money," "horrible person." These comments are absolutely ridiculous, simply do not describe this wonderful man, and are probably fraudulent and submitted by angry people who are angry for god knows what. Dr. Weiss will get you better and literally talk to you every day (without charging a fee for it!) until you are better. The best MD of any kind I have ever consulted. My family and I literally love him, and you will too.

I was so impressed when he got me in right away. But I soon found out he is essentially a drug dealer who has no accounting system. If you need real psychiatric help, I beg you to go somewhere else. He will not spend more than 5 minutes with you, take your money and give you irresponsible prescriptions without checking on your overall health first. I am so lucky I have seen the light and gotten away from this dangerous man.

Dr. Weiss is simply the best psychiatrist I have ever consulted, and I have consulted a lot of psychiatrists due to depression and anxiety. Compassionate, caring, warm, genuine, knowledgable, Dr. Weiss is in a class by himself.

Great psychiatrist, no problems with meds choice...a little "East coast" fast-talker but a great heart and good doc!
