Dr. Hubert Arnold Leonard, MD

Rushed, brusque, and clearly eager to just put me on another medication despite my having tried several. Barely listened, didn’t answer all my questions, and spent half the appointment complaining about his job and the department. A complete waste of time.

I was treated by Dr. Leonard 2012-2014 for chronic migraines. He is terrible. I can’t even begin to explain all the ways his treatment harmed me, but I will try. He consistently displayed a lack of listening skills. His follow-up questions or statements would often not line up at all with what I had just said. He was always dismissive and disrespectful. It was clearly all about him and his schedule. He is not focused on what is best for the patient. At one point, I was seen by his PA who under his instruction, prescribed a small dose of steroids, despite my recent discovery and flare-up with several stomach ulcers. I discussed this with the PA. Dr. Leonard came in at the end of my appt. and reviewed the treatment plan and approved the steroids and assured me that it would be fine. Within 48 hours, I landed in an ER with terrible stomach pain. The ER doctor said that Dr. Leonard couldn’t be reached. My Dad got through to his office and he denied ever discussing it with me and denied… approving the treatment plan. Ultimately, when he ran out of treatment ideas he told me that I’d need to learn to live with the pain and manage the symptoms. He sent me to a pain psychologist to learn coping mechanisms. By my own research, I found Michigan Head and Neurological Institute where I found answers and went from daily migraines to one migraine per month. I now have one migraine every 3-4 months. Just because he doesn’t know the answer doesn’t mean all hope is lost, but that’s exactly what he communicates to his patients. I’ve since heard from and talked with several of his patients all from whom I’ve heard similar stories.

Dr. Leonard helped me with awful headaches after breaking my neck. He was always very informative and helpful. Worked great with my surgeons and watched my Rx history closely so there never was a problem. He was very professional and I enjoyed both he and his medical assistant Louise. Thanks Dr. L !!! I know this was along time ago, but I couldn't have gotten through that without you!!!!

Hateful spiteful man. He found out I had Lyme disease and suddenly a lifelong history of migraines and multiple head injuries became psychosomatic, changed 6 months of medical records and told SSDI judge.

He was very attentive and supportive until a clinic he referred me to referred me to a specialist in another area of medicine. I finally got a diagnosis that made sense for the symptoms I'd been experiencing for years and when I told him about it at the next appointment he instantly cooled and he began grilling me on the symptoms. He was totally indifferent to me at my next visit and abruptly got up and left the room leaving me sitting there with an excruciating migraine. He didn't say a word and I thought was coming right back but he didn't. I went into the hallway and cried while my husband held me. At my last visit he grilled me over and over about my headache pain and the symptoms of the other medical condition as though he was trying to trip me up and then he said he couldn't help me anymore. Until the unrelated diagnosis he was very helpful and I thought we were getting a handle on my chronic migraines. I'm not sure what the issue was and he wasn't forthcoming.

Dr Leonard is ok when your face to face with him, I have always had to wait a while over my appointment time to get into seeing him which if there was a sorry from him but he never does. He is not the easiest doctor to get a hold of, even when the message are given to him. I have been seeing this doctor for about a year now and if there was another headache specialist close by I would have left by now. E

Dr. Leonard took a thorough history and examination, listened well, was polite, considerate, very informative/knowledgeable, and well-tied to the medical community. I even found him to have a sense of humor and he was very engaging. I felt comfortable with him, and mostly, I agree with his opinion and treatment of my condition. The medication he prescribed has already improved my quality of life and I look forward to continuing care with him.

Dr. Leonard has treated me for migraines for over 8 years. He has always treated me with respect and compassion. I have battled migraines most of my life. There are times I feel like I am losing the battle. Each time I leave from an appointment with Dr. Leonard I have renewed confidence that I am not. He is knowledgeable about treatment options, and understands how migraines affect a person as a whole. His staff is friendly, and I always leave my appointments feeling grateful for his care.
