Dr. Hubert Anthony Russell, MD

I have debated over 3 years if I should to write this review or not because, honestly, I just wanted to forget it happened and because I never leave reviews. But the idea has never left my mind and I always felt responsible to share my experience with other moms because I thought it could help them when making a decision about their kids pediatrician. I was at cedar´s Sinai having my baby with my Husband and our amazon OBGyn, who patiently respected our wishes to have a vaginal birth as opposed to c-section, which was the preference of most of the doctors we saw when we first started looking for an OBGyn. Not because it was necessary, I was having my first baby, completely normal pregnancy, just because it works better with their schedule. So, after a 24 hour labor, our beautiful baby was born. They moved us to a room at around 2am. After almost 72 hours without sleep, when we arrived, I was exhausted but still couldn´t sleep, I had to wait until my baby was asleep as well.… Around 3:30 both my baby and my husband were finally asleep. Suddenly, someone abruptly comes into the room, opening the door very loudly, slamming it until complete stop, and turning the lights on and yelling, "I am the doctor, I am here to check on the baby!" (Keep in mind, this is now 4:00am and after a 24hour long labor). The baby, off course, had already been checked several times by now. So, I get up of my bed quickly, and answer in a lower voice. I explain the baby has already been checked and I ask what is this check up about and if it can wait a few hours. I try to explain we are all exhausted and just need to rest, and ask him to come back later if the check up is just routine and presents no rush. He gets really upset, yells back to me he is just doing his routine rounds and this is the only time in the whole day he can see us and that if I don´t like it, I have to find another doctor. Off course, that is what we did. I thought that was the end of it, and I just thought he was an insensitive person who just really didn´t care about his patients, specially like us since he was just stepping in for our regular doctor, who was in holidays at the time. But unfortunately, it wasn´t the end of it. When we asked for a new doctor, we found out that doctor Hubert had gone very far to let every doctor in duty know what in his eyes we represented: "Difficult couple who refuses and goes against medical treatment and recommends to be seen by social services" A few hours later we had social services in our room. We hadn´t done anything wrong, but we were nervous and still exhausted. After a few minutes into the conversation, the social services lady heard our experience and realized we were actually not the crazy ones. She apologized and told us not to worry. She then left. She apparently had seen this type of behavior from doctors before. I just couldn´t believe this when we later found out what he had done, we had never rejected medical treatment. Off course, they usually don´t show you the type of records were doctors write all this, but all nurses and even other doctors that did check on us later, felt nothing like this, and were actually disagreeing with Dr Hubert. This Doctors, were the ones who eventually told us the truth about what this doctor had done and showed us the transcripts. I couldn´t believe what this doctor could do just to show how much power he had. I leave the conclusions with you, and I hope you make the best choice for your kids.

Dr. Russell is very knowledgeable and thorough. I'm so glad I found him for my children.

He has been my children's doctor since their birth and I would recommend him to anyone who wants a doctor is truly cares and is invested in assisting parents at raising healthy children. Dr. Russell is like family to us.

I am currently doing backflips and twisting myself into a pretzel through hoops trying to find insurance. My main criterion is keeping Dr Russell as my son's provider. He's that good.

doctors & assistance's are good, down fall is the waiting room staff, phone hours and waiting time to see the doctor. Most of the time you can't call the office after ll:30am cause they don't answer after they return to lunch and you just get a message. The waiting time can be long at the office you may say have a 10am appointment but you may not get called back to a room for 45min cause they are so busy.

He has been my Dr. since I was 2 and I must say It's sad to grow up just because I must find a new Dr. but I won't find another physician like him. He is inreplaceable. Much Love to my Pediatrician, but one day I will return with my children to his office for care in the future.

My hate doctors but when it comes to dr.russell they love going there my kids have been hospitalized at his hospital and he is there to.see how they are doing before he goes to his office. Ilove how patient he is with the kids AND how hemakes sure you understand him also if you can not make it to the office you can call his office and will prescdibe medication over the phone and even after hours he is available for you would not change him for any other dr.

We really wanted to review Dr. Russell because we are SO impressed with his bedside manner. He is kind and so gentle with our baby. He takes as much time as needed to answer questions and is very knowledgeable. We were a little taken aback by the office. It isn't the upgraded variety we are used to. But after we met Dr. Russell, we really evaluated what was important to us and it is definitely the doctor. We are thrilled with his service and recommend him highly.

He was my Dr. until my 18th birthday and he even showed me some math tricks, over the years I got treats after shots, advise and guidance that will last a life time. I will not find another Doctor like him ever, but he will always be part of our family. Thank You.

When I had my first child I asked 3 nurses on different shifts to recommend a pediatrician. ALL 3 said "Dr. Russell". No matter how busy he is, he makes you feel like your child is the most important child there is. He listens, asks the right questions, and explains things in simple terms. He was able to calm a frightened new mom. He even has great handwriting!
