Dr. Garton is not only an amazing surgeon but also very caring and compassionate. We are forever indebted to him!

Life saver

My son was diagnosed with a brain tumor at 10 months old. 11 years ago as of the date of this review, we were in pediatric ICU waiting for his tumor resection. Dr. Barton sat with our family and explained everything that needed to be done (and was very patient with my grandmother's questions as she was a bit more in shock than the rest of us and wasn't comprehending as quickly as she normally would.) He wanted to wait until after Christmas if we could so he could hand pick his team rather than get the on-call staff. Someone from his team came out periodically and let us know how our boy was doing during the procedure. The day after the procedure, he sat at a computer with me and explained exactly what he had done, using my son's actual MRI as a visual aid. Our family holds this man and his team in a very special place in our hearts!

Dr. Garton is a wonderful and caring surgeon. He answered all my questions, and spent about 30 to 45 minutes going over how the surgery will be performed. Although, Dr. Garton hasn't operated on me yet I will tell you I wouldn't want my life in anyone else's hands. I have had many surgeons and doctors due to my condition, and he is the BEST!

I cannot begin to explain how much I appreciate Dr. Garton. Never once did he make me feel rushed. I think I asked the same question about 15 times before my son's first surgery and never once did he seem frustrated or in a hurry. He loves and cares for his patients and it is evident always. Over and over I heard nurses and staff sing his praises. Multiple nurses told me that he would be their first choice of a surgeon to work on their family members. That is a doctor I want on my side. Along with his skill level and bedside manner, U of M was such a blessing. Spending a lot of time in the hospital was so much easier than I thought it would be. The nursing staff, Family Life program, children's room, and support staff were amazing and helpful the whole time. I could go on and on.

Dr. Garton saved my son's life. I can not say thank you enough... He is an exceptional physician and my heart will forever be thankful! Everyday I look into my son's eyes and realize how blessed I am to have him and knowing it's because of God and Dr. Garton's remarkable ability as a surgeon and doctor. I praise him and his whole staff! Thank you for more than I could ever possibly say..

Dr. Garton has been my sons doctor since birth. I cannot say enough nice things about him. He is always correct. He is personable and attentive. He spends as much time as I need with him. Even though he sees many, many patients, he knows my son and always talks to him like they are old friends. I would trust no one except Dr. Garton to make life altering decisions regarding my son's care. He is just awesome.

Always spends lots of time with us. Very caring & listens to our concerns. I would highly recommend him as a wonderful pediatric Neurosurgeon.

Dr. Garton is a wonderful doctor. He is very caring and really follows through. Both my son and I feel blessed to have him in our lives. He is an excellent surgeon, and has a wonderful bedside manner. I am amazed at how he follows through on issues, and is so accessible.
