I have had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Moncrief & received 2 separate back surgeries by him. He could tell you exactly what symptoms u r experiencing by looking at ur MRI. Both went extremely well. The moment I awoke the severe pain was gone. I am fortunate to have had the pleasure of being operated on by this brilliant, kind Dr.

Dr. Moncrief is the best neurosurgeon in Dayton, OH. I was seen by Dr. Moncrief on referral from an Orthopedic Specialist after an MRI detected a tumor on my spinal cord. Dr. Moncrief saw me for an initial consult on a Saturday and then scheduled me into the Operating Room (on a priority basis) for surgery on a Monday. On Dec, 21, 2001, Dr. Moncrief removed a grape-sized benign meningioma that trapped inside the spinal cord pressing on the nerves within the spinal column. The surgery took almost 5 hours and was performed flawlessly. Dr. Moncrief and his staff took exceptional care of me and I have had no recurring symptoms in the years since. I am writing this review after all these years as a tribute to his abilities as an exceptional neurosurgeon and humble, soft-spoken retired former military doctor. I had my surgery just 10 years ago. I had been in miserable pain. A prior doctor said I needed rods, screws, plates etc. for my back. Dr. Moncrief said I did not need all that. My comfort after surgery by him was immediate. I think I could have went to work the next day. Simply the best, no problems at all since he worked his magic, I can do anything I want now even at this date and I am 70 years old. I never thanked him enough, I hope he sees this. Thanks again. Dr. Moncreif operated on my neck in 05 c2 thru c7 everything went fine Then he operated on my spine t1 t2 left me with myelopathy from my waist to my toes, pain doctor said will NEVER go away Then he went lower to L4 L5 and removed a big chunck of arthritis which he said was there for a long time,BUT It left me with my spine leaning to the right, I am incontinent and damaged nerves still have myelopathy like a tight rubber band around my waist, I feel as though he has crippled me, I am only 60 amd using a walker because of Dr. Hugh Moncreif

He removed a brain tumor I had. He was very caring. Answered all my questions.

I don't feel rushed. He listens to me. Schedules my MRI's the same morning of my appt with him so that I don't have to come back another time, to make it convenient for me.

He was topflight. Another Dr. said I needed rods, screws and fusion. He said I did not and I did not. After surgery all pain was relieved, I have been pain free for 4 years and I can do anything I want without back discomfort. Just excellent overall.

He is the best. Very professional, down to earth and a man of few words.
