My Specialty and Why I Chose It

I am a board certified neonatologist. This means I specialize in taking care of sick newborn babies. It was a calling that drew me into this field. Watching small babies get better from illnesses and grow before my eyes is the most rewarding experience in my life. I feel so privileged and satisfied to be able to help them and their family.

My Practice Philosophy

I take care of babies, who are human beings though much smaller and younger, and their families, instead of diseases. Quality of life is always considered in my mind. Evidence-based standard of care is my practice guidance, but it will be tailored to individual situations unique to each baby and family. Open communication with family is an integral part of my practice. Regardless of family background, all patients should receive the highest standard of care and be treated with respect.

My Tenure with Kaiser Permanente

I have been with Kaiser Permanente since 2007. I have always been impressed …by the quality of care my relatives have received at Kaiser Permanente. I also observe that while Kaiser Permanente provides one of the most comprehensive and efficient systems for patient care, it preserves the freedom to practice medicine the way each individual provider feels is in the best interest of patient and family. In addition, the resources that Kaiser Permanente offers to help me deliver cutting-edge and high-quality patient care, and the opportunities to interact with a large group of colleagues, all convince me that Kaiser Permanente is an ideal place for me to practice medicine.



On a Personal Note

I grew up in Taiwan and moved to the United States of America in 1989. Following my pediatric residency at University of Connecticut, I practiced general pediatrics for more than five years in Boston where I was privileged to be affiliated with Children’s Hospital of Boston and New England Medical Center. In 2004, I decided to take fellowship training in neonatology to fulfill my calling to help critically ill babies turn around and go on to have wonderful lives.

My husband and I have one great son and I also enjoy traveling.
