I was hoping for a way to get my cardiac bypass surgery completed with a minimum of surgical trauma. My research lead me to meet with Dr Husam Balkhy, who turned out to be the Director of Robotic and Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery at the University of Chicago Medical Center. He is one of a handful of doctors in the midwest who is knowledgeable and skilled at robotic bypass surgery. In short, my robotic cardiac bypass surgery by Dr Balkhy and his team went well. My recovery was comparatively quick, especially when compared to conventional open chest cardiac bypass surgery. I HAD BYPASS SURGERY IN GRAND RAPIDS MI AND 1 ARTERY CLOSED UP SOON AFTER. THE DOCTORS IN MI WOULD NOT GO BACK IN FOR JUST 1 ARTERY. I FOUND DR. BALHKY ONLINE, CALLED HIM ABOUT MY PROBLEM,HE CALLED ME BACK AFTER SEEING MY FILMS AND SAID HE COULD FIX IT, AND HE DID. He is a good sales person. Ended up with more problems then started with. Did not come to visit even after my heart stopped the day after surgery.

This hospital is an unbelievablly cutting edge facility loaded with kind, caring and compassionate doctors, nurses, caregivers and medical students! I am very grateful and am blessed for all of the care I received from Dr. Balkhy and his team.

He repaired my Mitral Valve however it began to leak once again within 1 year of my heart surgery so I run the rick of having to repeat the process. My surgery went very well, I was back to work in 13 days following my Robotic Heart surgery.

DR. BAHLKY DIAGNOSED, AND SURGICALLY REPAIRED A DISFUNCTIONAL BYPASS THAT NEED A COMPLETE REDO. HE PERFORMED THE SURGERY AND GOT ME BACK TO WORK IN FOUR WEEKS. HE IS AN AMAZING DOCTOR AND VERY UNDERSTANDING. I WOULD RECOMMEND HIM TO ANYONE.
